Think of it a different way. Let's say you and youre wife just had twin girls... your wife wanted to get a new car. Would you rather have her driving around a Mini Cooper with those 2 babies in there, or a Chevy Tahoe? Would you tell her, "I understand but baby, we need to be conscious of our carbon footprint... I'll take chances on the kids' safety".

That doesn't take into account that the Mini would be less likely to get into an accident in the first place.

Also, I already admitted that SUVs can be safer, but only because they are coming up against small cars. Car vs car, there are less problems.

Also, I would never drive a Chevy Tahoe because:

a) We can't get them here.

b) I have decent taste in cars.

Also, I'm not suggesting you should drive a Mini (they are cars too, I ing hate them), but I don't see why you couldn't drive a mid-sized sedan.

I don't see how visiting a OECD country is even relevant. And by, OECD, do you mean, Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development? Anyways, it's unfortunate you don't believe in the inalienable rights all humans should have access to.

:wtf:

How can you say "every society should be run like this" (this being the USA), when you have no experience with which to compare it to?

You are truly retarded.

It only weighs 60 tons and uses 1 gallon per mile. Also, it's really safe. I could have an accident with anyone and I wouldn't be hurt, because I'd have 24 inches of steel protecting me. If everyone drove one we would have no deaths from accidents, because everyone would be in the same position.

I should be allowed to drive it if I want to, why shouldn't I?

They'r not street legal and also contains classified hardware and software systems. In addition, the large caliber gun is illegal for anyone but the military to own. That's why you can't have one.

of course it isn't. all western and industrialised nations are to blame.

It's not about our constitution. The rights to life, liberty, happiness, property, are UNIVERSAL. They apply to everybody. PKC, if you want a Ford F-150, you should be able to get one!

but as you said yourself, these rights are universal until they violate somebody else's rights. our continued wealthy lifestyles violate the rights of the less fortunate every day.

There are MANY contributors. Singling out pick up trucks is trivial at best.

im not singling out pick up trucks. it is merely an example of western greed, justified by "the rights to life, liberty, happiness, property" that is my contention. and people should at least admit that their lifestyles cause harm to others, rather than making crap comments about its their right to live however they choose regardless of the consequences for everyone else.

Also, that website sucks. I tried searching for safety stats on about 10 different sedans and coupes, and they didn't have information on any.

maybe because all of these other countries immigration policies are more friendly than those from the united snakes? Notice the people killing themselves to get there and their geographical proximity to the united states. What a stupid argument, if people from Greenland want to come here they can take a plane.

The peso will be worth more than the us dollar in a few years, so mexicans will not risk their lives to be drug mules to a population that can no longer afford them.

I'm struggling with the idea (albeit not for environmental reasons). I want to buy a nice mid or full size sedan next, probably by the end of 2009. But it's hard to go back to a car after being in a roomy, spacious vehicle for 3 years. Also, sitting up high and getting a more clear look of the big picture on the road is a highly underrated safety feature, in my opinion.

So you think laws should dictate what is right and wrong?

In Afghanistan you are allowed to stone women to death if they cheat on you, but that's okay, because it's allowed by law.

just go to the home page... plug in the car you want to look for, and down the left hand side of the page that comes up, you can click on "safety ratings and recalls" and it will take you right to what you're looking for.

You don't need a high driving position to see a long way. That is such a female mentality. I can see 2 miles up the road and I drive a sports car.

Also, as I already explained, you will not miss the "roomy" part as much as you think. 90% of modern cars have more than enough room. It's only things like Smart cars that struggle.

Answer me this: have you ever driven a small car, such a Golf or something of similar size, for more than one hour?

I did that, and as I said, they had no safety stats.
