Jay, you are just as deluded about it as others. This whole talk of doing it the same in Canada and the UK is such a ing deluded fallacy. It is horrible in the UK, and it is going to in Canada. Now lets just do the same on 10x the population. Yeah that would work.
No one has taken me up on my challenge. FIND A COUNTRY WITH 300M+ PEOPLE THAT HAS A GOOD SOCIALIZED MEDICINE. You won't. |

DOOMBOT said, "And how do you think they [gov't] perform this task?" I was simply pointing to those countries as an example. Don't over analyze what I say please. |

Sorry, I was mistaken. :)
My statement is still correct for those others that think it is fantastic. |

how is it going to in canada?
is this just another i am ben and i assume things? (articles are out there about complaints, but i am satisfied immensely with the services i get. The 37% of my salary that i pay in taxes is not just for medicare.) Also, you would be a little more credible if you did not compare the canadian system to the uk system because they are not the same.
ps. i lso support a 2 tier system, which would work with 300 million people, it is just that us constituents don't want to pay more taxes.
"give us your cold, your weak, your huddled masses"
yeah right. |

What is so great about the Canadian, Australian or UK health system? |
Uh, the fact that health care is viewed as the government's responsibility?
| quote: | | The insurance company is a private company, driven by a market controlled by the government. |
Oh yea? The insurance companies, doctors, and drug companies are controlled by the government? Bull.
| quote: | The point in saving your money is to have the ability to pay for things in the future. An insurance company won't be forcing anyone to pay for anything that they either don't want or need. If the time comes to go to the doctor though, with a savings, you would be able to pay for the service(s). Unfortunately, with a nationalized health system, you can't, as you can perfectly see. Competition has been completely removed from this service, which has driven up costs. Without competition there is no incentive for the entity providing the service to lower the price of the good.
Edit: http://www.canada.com/topics/news/s...eae207a&k=29315 Interesting system they have going on up there in Canada. |
The point of health insurance is to reduce the financial risk of health care. If someone has to use their savings to pay medical bills, then obviously something is wrong. And in a country that is in more debt than savings, who the hell has enough in savings to pay medical bills? And who the hell wants to even use their savings for that ? It's money flushed down the toilet. Savings are to buy wanted things, a house, a car, a computer, etc. Nobody saves money thinking, "this is for my future medical bills..." |

No, it was from people talking about wait times, quality of service, etc going WAY down. Not just some US bull that gets spewed out.
Also, I too support a two-tier system. In fact, I talked about this a bit more in depth with Theresa and Craig when I was in Canada. That how a single tier just is failure in a large population, but that the government could easily establish a baseline level of care, and they provide certain other things, but we have to get an insurance that would be administered like the US system is now through employers, to provide anything above that standard of care. |

I would still much rather wait a little longer for free health care, rather than, have immediate health care, and be in debt for the rest of my life. Medical bills are one of the most common reasons people in this country go bankrupt. |
