ibyan forces fired machine-guns at mourners marching in a funeral for anti-government protesters in the eastern city of Benghazi yesterday, a day after snipers and foreign mercenaries loyal to longtime leader Muammar Gaddafi shot demonstrators.

Women and children leapt from bridges to their deaths as they tried to escape the ruthless crackdown on Saturday. Artillery and helicopter gunships were also used against crowds of demonstrators, and thugs armed with hammers and swords had attacked families in their homes.

A doctor at one city hospital said he counted 200 dead in his morgue alone since the unrest began six days ago.

Apparently snipers are shooting down protesters in the street during the speech by Saif el-Islam Gaddafi. Egypt's revolution was luckily extremely peaceful in comparison to this. Saif el-Islam Gaddafi basically said in his speech that everyone in Libya would be dead before his father would give up control of the nation.

i have a feeling like this has been going on for years, but the news media is only really sensationalizing on it now because of all the stuff going on in Eqypy.

ther'es a lot of unsettled-ness going on around here'; i'm just glad it's w/ their own gov't and not us lol.

also repost from the eqypt thread

I wish they all reported the news like the chasers :( It'd certainly liven it up for me.

Is this an issue? No doubt intelligence did realise their government was bull.

Its only going to get worse and worse, the whole middle east is ready to implode.

seems to me certain countries forgot about the fact that the egypt protests had the support (or rather refrain from interference) of the military.

can't do much when the leader you're trying to oust has fully control of the armed forces.
