so i'm taking a wine tasting class at LSU. last night was the first class. and they discussed different aspects/clarifications on wine (how it looks, smells, tastes, etc...). it was fun. only have one more class, and that's next tuesday. apparently its going to be about pairing foods w/ wines.
i need to get a wine cellar. perhaps a house in oklahoma i buy will have a storm cellar, and i'll just put all my wine in it. LOL.
i have 7 bottles of Merlot on my dining room table :wtf: |

We just started serving cocktails at my bar and it kind of inspired me to have one at home today. Plus I was stressed out and really needed a good drink to loosen me up.
I went to make a Campa but realised that I didn't have any strawberries at home (I usually always do :() and I certainly don't have Midori at home so I improvised.
Ended up finding a mix of berries (blueberries, raspberries and blackberries) in the freezer that mum uses to put in her cereal. Threw 3-4 teaspoons of that with 3 teaspoons of sugar into a cocktail shaker and muddled it up. Then threw in:
20ml Millers Gin
20ml Campari
20ml Cointreau
In with the ice, shook it up, strained it into a rocks glass and it was perfection. Quite happy with it.
If you find it's a bit too strong on the aftertaste, bump it down to:
15ml Millers Gin
15ml Campari
30ml Cointreau
and you can always add more/less sugar, depending on taste :) |

Used to be my favourite, but not so much. I need to find a new fav domestic beer because buying imported is too expensive! |
