Vodka and Coke? People do that?

I mean I guess it could work, it's just to me Coke is reserved for Whiskey or Rum.

Captain Morgan and Coke is always a good choice, in my opinion. The vanilla and spices in Capn' go really well with it. Super sweet, though.

I actually don't mind vodka and coke, but I've noticed that it's not common at all outside of the UK.

Vodka, fresh lime juice and soda ftw.

Hell, Lews drinks appletinis :o

Okay, two points I feel I must make here:

First of all, I haven't had one in months :p

Secondly, what I drink when I drink an appletini really isn't what anyone thinks of as an appletini. I adapted it from this recipe:

quote:
The Appletini is Dead! Long live the Appletini! makes 3 drinks

6 ounces gin (I used Plymouth)
3 ounces dry vermouth (I used Noilly Prat)
1 large (or 1 1/2 small) Granny Smith apple
1 dash orange bitters
lemon zest, for garnish

Core the apple and chop it, peel and all, into small chunks. Place the apple chunks in the canister of an iSi cream whipper, and add the gin and vermouth.

Seal the whipper, and get your stopwatch ready. Use a N2O charger to pressurize the whipper, and swirl the contents around for 30 seconds; at the end of 30 seconds, place the whipper on the counter and let it rest an additional 30 seconds.

Rapidly depressurize the whipper by placing a plastic container over the spout (to catch the spraying liquid) and squeeze the lever. Once the whipper is completely depressurized, strain the liquid into a large glass. Let it rest a few minutes before using — the flavor develops better with a little time.

Proceed as with a standard cocktail: place three ounces of liquid in a mixing glass, add a dash of bitters along with a bunch of ice, and stir until chilled. Strain into chilled cocktail glass; hit it with the lemon zest.

As you can see, it's not exactly vodka and green high-fructose corn syrup :p

And then there was the time you were drinking vermouth on its own :o

:p

^my brother was telling me recently that he's developed a taste for it. he buys this certain vermouth all the time now and drinks it solo :wtf:

Yeah, I've ordered Vodka+soda several times before. It's good for when you want to avoid getting full of sugar.

I guess since vodka goes with pretty much any juice or soda, it would go fine with Coke... I just never thought of it nor have I heard it ordered.

I was putting my socks away the other day and shifted some of the socks that were lining the bottom of my drawer and I discovered 3 lost bottles of beefeater! I hate gin now though. Might give it to some homeless types.

LAdazeNYnights
lol THREE BOTTLES?
how do you forget about 3 bottles?
i can imagine forgetting about a half finished bottle somewhere, or just one full bottle maybe - but 3 bottles of booze? maybe it's because i rarely keep more than 3 full bottles of booze in my place

We're all drinking and listening to Haz's set right now in the Bedroom Sessions thread.

I'm drinking whiskey and Coke.

This kind of whiskey... it was cheap:
