Seriously it wasn't that bad the last few times we were there. You know I can appreciate some of the shirtless guys but I really don't like it either, and the last few times(Duriez, Stephan) there it was much less of the shirtless gay guys there. |
Oh, I know. It's just that he said that there NO shirtless guys on Saturday nights when the DJs aren't gay oriented. This is far from the truth. |

This Saturday, I don't recall seeing a single shirtless dude.
We had probably 400-500 (a guess) through the doors all night, and not a single member of the car wash crew showed up.
I'm expecting pretty close to the same type of crowd, but more people overall. |

Because that type of crowd showed up on Friday.
*edit* - and by 'type', i mean the circuit crowd. |

LOL Thank you! You just made my night. What an amazing weekend that was and was it ever fun!!! It wasn't only guys with their shirts off, I saw a few girls with their shirts off too. Easily my best party ever. |

Actually, I would.
A club is not a stripper club FFS.
Time and place for everything... |

and guess what else that can do? It can turn off your female clientele, turning your party into even more of a sausage fest.
I just think it's in poor taste, and absolutely REEKS of desperation. Do you know how many people would look at a flyer like that and go "wow, Sonic must be hurting!" which just leads them to think something must be wrong if they are changing their advertising like that and they probably wouldn't go out of their way to go to the club. |
You totally missed the point. I didn't suggest that they should put half-naked women on the flyer as if they were promoting a strip club or top 40 club. This would, of course, send out the wrong message to the clubbing population of Toronto and it wouldn't really fix Sonic's image (assuming, of course, that image is something that needs to be addressed).
Also, just wanted to say that if it is true about what was said about Morales and Nevio in this thread, then that's just ing weak on their part. The club hasn't even been open for a year and already owners are bailing cause they're not making money, lol. Well it's good to know where their heart is. |

This thread is MASSIVE! :eyes: LOL
I gotta say, like any other club on this planet, Sonic is entitled to have a glitch or two like the rest of them. What I would prefer to concentrate on is the great parties that have taken place, and the ones that are around the bend.
(p.s....last weekend ROCKED! Calderone, Bailey and Santana...kick ass weekend Carey! btw: happy belated bday)
Shirts on shirts off issue is a constant topic. The bottom line to that one is regardless of club, the shirts off is not just a gay thing. It's really the event and the DJ that will make or break the shirts on or off rule, not the club itself in most cases (unless otherwise noted). I've been to several parties at the Guv, TIL etc etc, and if it's a gayer crowd they are expecting then they let it go. Everyone comes in dressed right? A club will not send security around to a MASS amount of guys to tell them to put their shirts back on, LOL.
Now if it's a night where the DJ is known from more of the str8'er side of clubland, a large gay crowd probably won't show up, hence no shirts off issue. A few may come but will not necessarily strip off their top with so many clothed people around. It's all psychology and party planning, one messy ass situation from start to finish that I've seen in clubland for a long time.
Funny side note, when Calderone was playing this past Friday there were a few str8 dudes walking around with top's off too, the girls with them weren't totally covered at all times either. :happy2:
(for those who missed the entire lineup this past weekend I do pity you), lol.
I'm no authority on any of these issues, but I just thought to throw in my two cents. Sonic brings us a sound system and a light show that I think really turns it up Toronto, and they also try their best to provide the city with a great alternative atmosphere to party in on more than one night a week. Like I said, every club has it's glitches, i'm sure in enough time the one's Sonic may or may not have will get sorted out, n'est pas? :D

I have alot of friends that I've tried to persuade in coming with me, show them videos of past events and the response is always the same..."yeah man, the place is going off and all...but what's with all the shirtless guys?".... |
I can also attest to this.
Without a question, ALL of my friends who arent avid fans of house
as we all are wont come for that specific reason. |
