Edit: I agree there are wrong and right ways to do it. and that last time it was done for the footwork jam was just not the right way of doing it.

that wasn't because of the flyer.

that was because of the date.
everyone was too hurting from my party the night before ;)

but in all seriousness.. that time of year is hard, because everyone and their mother is doing an event every day of the week. I personally didn't like that flyer, but I think it was done as more of a tongue in cheek kinda thing.

From my perspective the debate really isn't about flyer design or marketing. It's the fact that we're even contemplating a compromise at ALL about what this scene has always been about, and should always be. (the music)

Yeah at the end of the day, the till has to ring in enough cash to pay the bills, and everyone knows that.

And yeah I'm being an idealist, and yeah, intentionally stubborn just to make a point because I think the fundamental point is lost on a lot of people.

if only there was a time machine that could take you back to the Toronto rave scene of 1996.

Throw on some fat pants, a dress shirt, a tie, a beaded neclace and plastic wallet chain and you could run .

What needs to happen is for the gay circuit queens to realize it isn't a circuit party and have some respect and consideration for the str8 crowd and then the respect will be given back. Saturdays at Sonic should not be classified as "gay" or "str8". It should be about the music and the acceptance and openness of everyone, but that goes both ways - keep your shirts on and be there for the party.

---see what happens when you're home sick - you start ranting

This is so true......its a two way street....

Why is this? I'd love to hear your argument.

I have been going to Sonic/Boa for over 2 years now (almost weekly). The difference in the amount of people that are coming out on a Saturday night is very obvious. The crowds are no longer there!
Plus word on the street is they are having problems paying bills. Sure this can be a rumour but how does a club survive on 300 people and half of them are on guest list.

Haven't read the entire thread but I'll say this, when I party I party for the vibe and the atmosphere as well as the music. If there are ONLY a bunch of shirtless men wandering around it will make me not want to party there the next time. There has to be a balance of women equal to the men in the club. The ratio doesn't have to be insane or anything but it has to exist imo. Last time I went to Sonic was for Mylo on a Friday, the vibe and atmosphere musically and with the crowd (women and otherwise) was off the hook, we need MORE of that.
