You totally missed the point. I didn't suggest that they should put half-naked women on the flyer as if they were promoting a strip club or top 40 club. This would, of course, send out the wrong message to the clubbing population of Toronto and it wouldn't really fix Sonic's image (assuming, of course, that image is something that needs to be addressed).

So, what was suggested then?

It always amuses me how stereo can pull off a VERY mixed gay/straight crowd, but Toronto can't. It's sad really! The best and longest lasting clubs have always catered to both crowds successfully.

I totally agree SKIPPER.

Well put.

Ok, I'm still waiting for some feedback from the club.

Hello ?

i hear that so often from friends who tell me they're bored on a sat nite, so i tell em go to sonic... it's too str8 is always the reply.

I suspect the differing perception comes from the fact that people might assume that shirt off = gay when that's not always the case.

more often than not it's usually the boyz who're the first ones to start the strip down... my self included. but there have been nights there where it seems like just about every guy is shirtless. regardless of sexuality.

Can't we all just get along and keep our clothes on. Isn't that what the after party is for.

(and i'm not saying to start doing flyers Top 40 style. there are ways to design flyers with hot women and still make it look stylish/classy)

Sure there are, but IMO those flyers are generally just as successful as regular flyers.

Further, when flyers DO have women on them in the way you suggested, I think they perhaps do more to enhance a sexy, sophisticated side to the event - which can still attract the gay crowd.

And I completely echo what Craig said - you can't move the gay crowd to Friday then complain it isn't busy on Saturdays. The pure after hours crowd in this city is not enough to pack that space two nights in a row every weekend - Boa was a perfect example of that.

Not at my afterparty; croissants, coffee, fruit only

i haven't been in a while...

is the club still packed when the more popular dj's play? ie: c&c,demi, etc if so then maybe people are picking their spots more as to when to come out...not everyone is going to be a regular and not everyone is hardcore to the point where they know every dj rolling into town...i'm sure many of the casual house fans have no idea who some of the names are on some saturdays...just a thought
