The past couple of months alone have included the likes of Stacey Pullen, Demi, Satoshie Tomiie, Hector Romero, Sean Miller, Jonny White, David Duriez, Guy Gerber, Tom Stephen, Timo Maas, Lexicon Avenue...

What planet are you on?

Jeff...

If they have solved the licencing issue on Friday..they should be able to find a way to do it on Saturday too...it's now a matter of survival..

Safe to say that if the crowds don't pick up soon...we will ALL be drinking and dancing somewhere else on BOTH nights!

I'm sure it's already been considered but maybe get the building owner involved with the Spadina BIA to lobby for a Saturday license.

Jeff, I could be wrong, but I don't think you need 2) to do 3). Open the doors at at 11:30pm or 12pm, let the headliner go on at 2am (til 6am or later if they want), and then let a new local talent close from 6am onward (if the people/demand is there). People can pre-drink till 12pm...that's more than enough time (unless you are Alocin or English Rachel, LOL)....most won't show up until around 1am anyway...but will be ready to roll for 2am...

The stronger the opening act, the more people that will show up earlier. Again, try to bring in local djs with strong followings...

IMO, for Sonic to significantly increase the numbers I think they need to be people's first and only club destination for the night, not their second or third...

This is a matter I would rather not go into great detail in discussing, as I feel management would be a lot better in explaining the reasoning behind it. All I know is we would have booze on both nights if it were possible. It's obvious that the nights are slower in early stages due to the non-serving factor, and if it were as easy as making a phone call or talking to somebody, it would have been in place for the first night we opened.

Dude, it is NOT "obvious that the nights are slower in early stages due to the non-serving factor." There are probably several factors contributing to the lower numbers early in the night. If they haven't already done it, management should list tall the possible factors, then make a plan to address each one....seriously...

Nothing against Nevio or Sean (I actually really like them both), but having them open every second or third weekend is just plain lazy. In case you missed it, Nevio opened on both Friday AND Saturday this weekend. Different/new opening acts will definitely bring more people to the club earlier....

Opening sets have been pretty weak for the most part. This weekend will be a great test with Brad Copeland, who in my opinion is one of the stronger openers we will have seen so far. Looking forward to next weekend already!

In regards to the licensed Fridays...It still seems like most people don't show up early. I have been to all of the recent Fridays where the club has been open, and even with alcohol, most people arrive closer to 2 rather than 11. When they are open until 7am, people still pre-drink somewhere else and come to Sonic later when they know they can stay there until morning.

Could the late arrival also not be related to the headliner's set time?

I think what most are suggesting here, it that the headliner come on at 2am in a licenced setting!

There may be other factors, I was just stating the main reason why opening earlier would not make sense without booze. It costs a lot for the club to operate with door staff, security, coat check, etc. and opening early simply to get the headliner on sooner would not make a difference. In the end it would just cost the club more money.
