i dont know what you are implying. electoral votes are designed in this way so that high density urban populations cannot asymmetrically control the presidential process. this ensures that each STATE in the entire COUNTRY(ie. the 50 STATES of AMERICA) has an a equal say in who becomes Pres.
what is not up for dispute is the fact that in 2016,
--A-- majority of voters, voted Republican in
--THE-- majority of the States
http://www.nytimes.com/elections/results/president
you can clearly see this, visually in the map(by county)
so when people make this claim that the "popular" vote was won by Democrats, this is a complete misdirection, and very inflammatory.
just look at the map.(presidential election results BY COUNTY)... and tell me that the "majority" of AMERICA...did not vote overwelmingly Replibican.
you cant. because americans DID...it's a sea of red. that is AMERICA...not the 30 million people in CA, and the millions in NY and Illinois and Massachusets.
it's a veritable landslide in the popular "American" vote. who live spread out in the MAJORITY of the states of AMerica. it just isnt in the "popular" vote ie. the literal number of voters who voted (mainly all in CA IL NY etc) . (which also btw includes MILLIONS of voters who were DEAD...in PRISON...ILLEGAL...and also dont forget the Soros-owned fraudulent voting machines. the democrat party is totally corrupt ) (the republican party was too, and thats why we have trump now) |

It might be inflammatory depending on the phrasing, but it isn't a misdirection - Hillary did win the popular vote. More people voted for her, that's a number, and also a fact.
As for the map, you're just stressing why Trump won most electoral votes, but we already knew that :conf: |

| Most of the map is red so more people must have voted for Trump. FACT! |

yea but what is the REASON he won the electoral votes
.the REASON that he won more electoral votes, is because MORE people...voted for Trump...in a more GEOGRAPHICALLY diverse area, an area that represents ALL of the STATES of america....
this is why parroting the "she won the popular vote" line, is pure garbage. she won it (BARELY anyway, by a few HUNDRED thou), because you can stack a project 50 stories high with 50 5unit families who are all on welfare and are all a net loss to the gdp of the nation.
all of their votes count, WHO GIVES A . saying she won the popular vote is a complete misnomer. (she didnt even win it by that much, several hundred thousand)(which is totally skewed anyway, with votes that shouldnt count)...there was a massive nominal amount of dem votes that inflated it to the point where she even actually WON the popular vote(votes that were illegal, fraudulent etc)
but it's understandable that the democrats will be looking for some sort of moral victory in the wake of a loss. but in reality, it is nothing to cheer about. it's actuallyin fact just a glaring representation of how democrat policies have contributed to the stagnent economy
offshoring of all the industry and jobs. couple with all the incoming immigration. that drives down wages to whatever jobs remain. open borders, drugs, it's all so simple. i like drugs but drugs pouring into the country do kill the gdp and productiviety.
it's all been tilted in favor of the corporate interests and global business, as opposed to the Nation of America.
the more immigrants come in, the larger the voter base there is to vote democrat, and the more that they can disperse these people INTO the currently sparse populated areas of america, so that in about 50 years time, there will literally, be NO wealth creation any more, it will all be a centralized system with one party, and fabricated enemy like 1984. and everyone will basically be slaves to the system, even more than they are now.
the infrasturcture will become completely obsolete. the DEBT is already so unbleievebaly high, i mean, this is just common sense.
(China, or Russia WILL WIN in this process)...believe me there is nothing more that Russia wants to see then to see America eat itself alive and that is exactly what is happening.
only problem is america is china's biggest customer, except in reality, ITS ALL DEBT LOL. so you see how it is all just a scam. AMerica is truly collapsing,
this is why i predict there will be two cessations in the East and West within the next 100 years. like i said, the 50 states will morph into 3 distinct unions, the middle, the West and East. you can see how it has been forming, just looking at the political layout of the geography.
the union in the middle, will be the one that the "isolationists" create....there will be a soft war, more likely just a political front with the understanding that cessation is inevitable, and must be allowed to prevent the complete destruction of the nation. |

I don't even know where to start with you, Rann. You clearly have no understanding whatsoever-the- of pretty much anything besides audio technology, so I'm not even sure why I'm trying, but it. See if you can't try to hold down your arrogance for a moment and listen to what I'm going to say.
538 did not get it 'so wrong.' They said he had a 29% chance of winning, he won. They thought it was unlikely, but very much in the realm of possibility and probability. I realise it may be difficult for you to comprehend probabilities, as most people have issues with them, but they were not horribly, horribly wrong. They got the end forecast wrong, yes, because the polls were not accurate in several key states by a small margin. They did not get it 'horrifically wrong' and their rep is not 'in tatters.' The fact that they were closer than anyone else in calling the election is just another testament to 538's skill. What ended up happening was very much in the minds of people who understand probabilities who looked at their end numbers.
YOU DO NOT KNOW THEY VOTED AGAINST THEIR INTERESTS. You know they voted against how YOU perceive their interests to be. Clearly in their minds they voted with their interests. Nobody votes against their interests on purpose. Clearly they value his ideas more than hers. You may disagree with it because of what you think is best for them, but that's probably part of why they voted for him - they're sick of bull liberal elitists on the coasts thinking they know what's best for them.
I don't know why the economic anxiety part is so difficult for you to grasp, I really don't. You yourself admitted they voted for him because of his anti-NAFTA rhetoric.
Of course voting is emotional, you ing idiot. Say something more obvious, please.
YOU DO NOT KNOW how they understand their economic interests. You think it's in their interests to vote one way, it might be that way; however, they can think it is in their interest to vote another way. They may, ultimately, be mistaken.
Again, he won the electoral college by a few percentage points in key states, in an election when turnout was down overall. He lost the popular vote. What happened was entirely within the realm of probability that was in 538's models. It was not forecast to be what would happen, but it was certainly both possibly and highly probable. As Silver said afterwards, he had been concerned that polling errors in one state might be wide-spread across other states with similar attributes, which is why his model gave Trump a much higher chance than anyone else's. That's what ing happened. And it wasn't a ridiculously-sweeping win - which is a key fact to remember when Trump and the Republicans start trying to carry out their project 'because of their mandate.'
Of course interviews with people are ing subjective! That's the god damned point of them! We want to know why people do things, we ask them for their subjective opinion. We think that they care about A, B, and C, because that's what we would care about in their shoes, but it turns out they care about D, E, and F. Their subjective opinion is all that ing matters! Statistics can help us make sense of this, but ultimately it's their subjective concerns that matter. And they are, as ing stated, highly concerned about the future of themselves, their families, their class, their way of life, etc. This is anxiety about the future. They might have a good job today, but tomorrow doesn't look so clear. 'Look at all those immigrants coming in, look at all those jobs moving overseas, look at how the people on the coasts are so concerned about micro-aggressions and think we're just idiots.' You get enough people thinking that, in key areas, and Trump is the president. How much each individual issue plays into voters is impossible to measure, but to suggest that anxiety about the future, especially economic anxiety, is not involved is ing stupid. Especially when you yourself said they were convinced by his anti-NAFTA talk.
In short, shut the up about things you don't understand. It's irritating. Stick to your audio technology and wonderful stories of how great LA is and how cool you look in your denim. |
Honestly, at this point you're more delusional than soulstar, but at least he can admit he has very serious mental issues.
You lost me at the first paragraph, as you still believe 538 didn't get it wrong. You're beyond help, as they've become a pariah in political circles and there isn't a pundit out there, except you obviously that thinks that 538 were on the money.
Not sure what you wrote after that but I did have a good little giggle that you spent 3 days preparing a response and wrote several hundred words trying to convince me that nate silver, just like you, should somehow still be taken seriously.
The whole holier than thou attitude is pathetic when you're firstly taking politics on a trance forum and secondly it took you that long to respond while still protesting that you're beloved little polling site is still valid.
Get over it already, the rest of the world has, and I really don't understand why you keep bringing up the fact I live in LA? You jelly?:p I live between the USA (various cities) and Europe so unlike you I actually have a little first hand perspective and can actually see what's going on here, you know, in the USA, where this election took place.
As for serial killer, you may well call him the village idiot, but he got it right all along, unlike you or nate silver, so what does that make you? The university dorm buffoon? |
