Is that the result of a penalty shootout? I mean, we're not doing worse than Germany, and Mexico beat them one nil :p
I'd expect the game to have two, three goals tops. Ochoa is the wall Trump reckons Mexico is paying for, and we've conceded just one goal so far... But I want to do some maths before I try to guess the score.
Speaking of wild guesses, I'm sure something similar must exist in Mexico, but here in Brazil it's quite common to make an informal lottery and give prizes to whoever guesses correctly the outcome of a match. The workers from my university made one for Brazil x Costa Rica, and most people made quite conservative guesses (1x0, 2x1, 0x0). And then, someone, in the middle of the pack just went berserk and predicted the game would end Brazil 15 x 7 Costa Rica.
The more I think about it, the more I want it to have happened :p |

| Regular game. There should be at least five goals. It could be the other way around, Mexico losing by 3. Who knows. |

This Germany result isn't just about them losing to South Korea. It's about them losing to a team with 0 points, with nothing to play for, in a must-win game, having already played terribly all tournament despite having one of the best squads, above all despite being Germany, who haven't gone out so early for 80 years, when there wasn't even a group stage. This has quite literally never happened before. |

Peaks and troughs. Holland and Italy aren't in this World Cup, either/
Germany will go and regroup, and win again in another 8 years. They did it after 2006; spent loads on their academies and grass roots game, and surely enough, 8 years later, they thrashed (although mediocre) a Brazil team.
As for SK not having anything to play for - they had everything to play for. National pride. It's big over here, and they couldn't go home with nothing. Germany just seemed disinterested for the whole tournament. |

Going to be interesting to see what happens in Belgium vs England; Belgium have said they don't care about a win and at least two of their top players are out with injury or better said are being rested (lakaku, hazard).
Southgate however has said he wants to win to keep the momentum (whether that's true is another thing because a loss may suit England better for who they play next). |

What I find really concerning about this World Cup is that, of the 16 remaining countries, they're all Latin American or European with the notable exception of a hopeless Japan. No African countries for the first time in my life, and this is the worst possible outcome for the future of the sport.
The Mannschaft and the Seleção have nearly half of all World Cup titles combined (9/20), so if Sensorium's dreams come true, the only contenders for the title will have, at best, two cups or less. That's good for the sport, surely.
A knockout stage without Africa, however, is quite a blow to future generations. That's more than 1 billion people who love the sport and are suddenly unrepresented after the entry stage. And it's not like Asia can get behind Japan, either, so this year's round of 16 is just a variation on a theme (Europe x Latin America). It's quite sad that, after Pelé predicted we'd have an African champion by 2000, this is happening in 2018 :( |

| I wasn't really concerned about who won in todays England match, but now, if we win or draw, we face Japan, so yeah, I kinda want England to win. |

| This is, by some distance, the worst game of the tournament so far. |

I was talking to my colleague wondering what Belgium was willing to do to remain second. Score in their own goal, bring in a player to score a red card... Maybe tell the attackers to prevent England from scoring in there own goal...
Typical :) |

Belgium is the scariest team of this whole thing. Really good football.
Fellaini is an amazing midfielder, he gives so much poise to the game. No wonder Mourinho kept him at Manchester. Roberto did work with this team. |
