me, I thought it was dirty, but watch Columbia ing up the penalty spot while they're protesting the penalty:

Christ, am I glad we sent Colombia packing. Not only were they obnoxious s during the match, they're still at it now they've lost. According to Falcao an American ref is inevitably going to be biased towards England (?) and the ref apparently gave all the fouls England's way. No mention of them headbutting one of our players in the chin, their coach physically threatening Sterling at half time, or their players shouting in the referee's face for about three straight minutes and kicking up the penalty spot after he'd awarded a perfectly legitimate foul. Meanwhile that fat Maradona is weighing in, apparently claiming Kane should have had a yellow card for the penalty incident (!?)

Well, we had a player sent off and lost the game, I'm not sure I like the outcome :p

ooh, that's somewhat a game changer. They're only saying he won't start though.

Maybe if it gets crunchy (and by that I hope not bitey) they'll bring him on...

Some player was saying on the radio that this sort of injury takes a while to heal from but, yeah, I'm keeping my fingers crossed so both teams can play at full force :)

Yeah, the hamstring is a dodgy injury to try and rush back from. It is aggravated when you push off from the ground suddenly so it affects explosive acceleration, exactly the kind of thing strikers need.

There's been a lot of debate here about whether England should have played a full-strength side against Belgium to maintain winning momentum. Uruguay decided to do it against Russia in the final group game even though they had safely qualified, and it looks like they may have suffered the repercussions. Both Cavani and Suarez are over 30 now and they both have extremely energetic, hard-running styles (which is one of their great strengths). It's hard to sustain that kind of performance when you're playing a game every 96 hours, and Cavani's injury was most likely a result of playing too much, too hard, too soon.

Well, it's not about the outcome, and the red was near the end at the 84th minute. Most damage already had been done in every possible way.
Awesome example of a scissor tackle though. A colleague remember the short-cut key for that at a computer game :)

I just wanna say, a Uruguay side without Cavanni is not a hopeless one. There is plenty to work with. Urugay does not have a shallow bench.

I heard some that about the ref too but it's just sore losing. They got such as easy pass from the ref, and the fact they only got a yellow for an off the ball heatbutt shows how lenient he was being towards Columbia.

It wasn't just threatening Sterling, the coach runs up to him and elbows him as he's walking off pitch:

That coked up twat Maradona needs to croak already:

I don't think it's a good team. In terms of talent, it's probably the worst squad we've sent to the World Cup in my lifetime (perhaps level with 2014).

Hahaha. That's too negative in my opinion.

Individually speaking, player by player, it's actually a good squad. But Jack, just please explain to me: how Sterling is even on this team??? And he's a starter!!! He is just a waste of time...Like...awful...

Dude, wtf? I'm starting to question our whole friendship. Raheem is boss.

See, if Neymar was there, no one would have had the time to be ejected, Cruyff would probably still have done his thing, and the only damage done would be to everyone's puzzlement wondering why a kid that wouldn't be born for another 18 years was there in the field with them :p

Jokes aside, that's why some of those tackles were banned 20 years later. There's there seems to be a cultural issue here]an interesting discussion about him on ESPN, by an Englishman who's lived here for 24 years, and I can't help agreeing with it.

I don't think they're hopeless without him, just a bit... defanged. I could always be wrong though.

Look at all our World Cup squads going back to 1990 and show me which one was weaker than this.

If you read through the thread, I've been ting on Sterling all tournament. I've always thought he was crap. He has 2 goals in 40 appearances for England, the last one against the mighty Lithuania. He's physically too weak, his shooting technique is terrible and he hasn't played a good game yet. He wastes so much possession trying little flicks and lay offs that never work.

He's had a good season for Man City, because Guardiola loves wide pacey forwards who can stretch the play laterally. He's scored about 23 goals this season, but if you watch a goal compilation on YouTube you'll see most of them are very easy finishes from inside 12 yards. In the big, high-pressure moments he tends to miss spectacularly, fall over and pull that stupid rueful face. Just rewatch City's Champion's League games against Liverpool.

For me, he needs dropping for Rashford. Rashford is young and inconsistent, and sometimes over-plays, but he's already scored more goals for England than Sterling and he's about 5 years younger. He nailed his penalty against Colombia with nerves of steel. The guy scores big goals at big moments. If he was being managed by Guardiola and not Mourinho at club level, he'd already be a big star. His talent is enormous.

Maybe if he played in The Premier League it would become clear, not?

So what you need is Louis van Gaal? Okay, that's not the best suggestion.
