Skylab was a frickin' zoo.
Bad Points
1 hour long wait in freezing cold windy line to get in. Two stages rather than four. 15-20 portapotties for a couple thousand people. And they ended it an hour early at 4 am. Too many raved out little un's near-passed out on the floor and seeing the stretcher go by a few times with passengers of young un's.
Good Points
The Music. DJ Dan, BBB, Diggers, EVERYONE was on point for the tunes. The Lighting was superb and the Sound was excellent. The Lasers were sweet. The overall mood was great - people were dancing, smiling, laughing, and very friendly.
We tried to head to Shelter for the afterhours but didn't see anything open so went home around 2pm instead.
I still say Toronto throws the best massives I've ever seen - and Montreal but this was a valiant effort for Denver.

Skylabbbb!!!
I'm sure someone else will post a much more technical description regarding this event...like track listings, videos, pics etc.
Between TA and myspace I'm seeing a lot of disappointed people. I guess I just feel kinda bad for those who expected a beautiful venue and awesome amenities. Denver hasn't seen a ING AWESOME massive in over 5 years. There's too many laws against it. Most of these venues are only used 2 or 3 times for parties before they are completely shut down for any business. Colorado is reeeally trying to make sure raves don't happen, ever.
One thing Denver is good at, is bringing in a great selection of DJs. We have decent clubs, and when a venue actually does everything legit, we have all night parties every now and than. I'm actually very impressed with the parties we have left due to all the laws that have hit.
I'm not an expert on this or anything, and I haven't been partying *that* long...but when I started in 2000 we had HUGE parties w/ thousands of people. Since than, we've dropped down to only having the big dj's in clubs...and the parties ONLY having local dj's. Although we love them, we have all seen them almost a hundred times.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that overall I was extremely impressed with Skylab. Great sound, fun warehouse venue, great vibe, awesome lighting, amazing line up, cheap water, lots of stages, lots of security, great decorations etc etc. No, it wasn't an L.A. party. And doesn't even compare to one. But for a Denver party...I was pretty much blown away. From what I heard, it hit over 7,000 people in that warehouse, which would have made it crowded at almost any venue. The bathroom situation wasn't very convenient...and (yes Chad) if there was a fire most of us would have died w/ how they had the entrance setup. No, I wasn't happy to see people being taken out on stretchers, but that happens everywhere with lil kids don't do homework on their drugs before they go eat a ton of whacky . It wasn't perfect, by any means...and maybe I've just been exposed to bad parties in the last few years, but this was well worth the cash and I'm glad we were one of many that stayed until the end. Hopefully D-town will see Beatport's name on a party flyer again soon.
=aZnxTraNceR=
alrighty guys and girls :)
Indeed the party was like a zoo, i almost got trampled so many times attempting to go outside and coming back in, definately something i dont ever wanna do again. The venue was hot as hell, but it definately helped tearing off the cardboard trashcan and using that as a fan :haha: The setup was by far one of the best i've seen in Denver, Beatport and everyone else did a great job of it.
I had a great time at this party and as what dani would say that i was "video happy" but hey! thank god i was cuz then we all can witness some great parts of the party again! hahahaha oooooohhh boy! i've uploaded 10 vids, mostly of diggers and a few of BBB. I was extremely impressed from BBB, had really low expectations on whether he would have a lame set, but damn... he sure got me that time! (check out the vid when he plays put your hands up for detroit) Diggers... I IN LOVE THAT GUY!!! amazing set great build all the way through and its just a ZOMG night lol! so here is the link to the vids i've uploaded:
(i think not all the videos have been cleared yet so maybe in about another hour, there should be a total of 10 vids)
The pics that we took at this party will be up either later tonight or tomorrow.

lol yeaaaaaah i did make the fire comment, but when it takes me 30+ minutes to go out and go to the bathroom and come back due to the mass of people throbbing back and forth what can you expect? :p
ok lets all be real here, we allllllll knew what we were getting into, we're talking about an ALL AGES event that is at some damn warehouse from 9p - 5a that being said i'll make all my comments good/bad anyways:
i'll start w/ the negatives and move onto the positives ;)
The Bad:
Hot as hell
there were some REALLY young kids there [anyone else see the guy who brought his kid who COULDN'T have been older than 10?]
lots of thugs/vato's/og's
lots of people getting taken out on stretchers due to drugs/dehydration etc
Fight breaking out about 20 feet in front of us [positive aspect: security was all over it in like 5 seconds, i was very surprised at this]
cutting digweed off at 4:20a
Micro [laff] :p
The Good:
Cheap Water
Awesome set up [keeping with danielle's "in Denver" theme here] i've not seen lighting//lasers//stage set up like that (excluding GDF//Rave on the Rocks//whatevertheit'scalledthesedays) in a long time
Meeting some really cool people who i'm still shocked i've never met before lol.
Hanging out with great friends who share the same passion for this music that i do.
Good Talent: Run Down of the DJ's I saw.
Micro [see the Bad]
RITM - They were playing some big time tracks, but I honestly wasn't thrilled with the flow of their set ID's: Spectrum - Kinda New (Tiefschwarz Remix) [old yes, but still a great tune to hear out] they dropped another one I knew...perhaps it was Chris Lake - Changes? either they played it or BBB did.
BBB - eh, I guess I'm starting to outgrow this guys style [similar to Porter] in the "Megamix" sense. He opened with Daft Punk - Television Rules the Nation and then mixed right into Daft Punk - Around the World, he also played a remix of Underworld - Born Slippy Nuxx (remix?) btw word on the streets was he was only supposed to play til 1:45am, but he played well past 2am John mothering Digweed
what can I say about this guy? he's a goddamn living legend, and yes having seen him in vegas 2 weeks ago I knew a lot of what he was going to play, but it didn't matter. why you ask? because he was bringing it from start to finish and to see him in this type of venue is quite possibly the only time i'll ever get to experience him like this. he was relentless and the basslines//kicks that were pounding left me saying "OMG" a lot :p
Tracks [no particular order]: Stephen Bozdin - Tromb
Martin H - Tron
Plastik - Plastik (Alex Dolby Plastik Vision Remix) [no gash guetta vocals over it :p]
Inner City - Good Life (steve angello remix)
basically almost every track off his live EM from ibiza from august ;)
Farley can probably help me out w/ the rest of the ID's on digweed.
So in summation for $20 yeah i had a great time :)
oh yeah jules post yer vids! ;)
*edit* oh yeah i read online that every set was recorded we'll see if they surface anywhere :)

This isn't the mental track you're thinking of...tho it is in the EM (and he definitely did play it early on), the insane build track is David Guetta feat. Chris Willis - Love Don't Let Me Go (Joe T. Vannelli Remix) (probs a dub version, no gash vox as opposed to the EM) I dunno, I think the reverb he did on it when the build came in each time kinda killed the energy of the track, it was just a bass wave...Tromb and Tron were ing HUGE live though. I really don't remember what else he played offhand, no Neontrance/Invasion of Ants/Crazy Pants which was dissapointing but I was so exhausted by that point it really didn't matter. Either way his flow was rediculous and each bassline got progressively heavier and heavier as the night went on, so it's not like it wasn't a great set. I'll try to think over the next few days, but I doubt I can ID much more.
BBB played Chris Lake - Release...and as for Jules' 1st vid of BBB that's Bodyrox - Yeah Yeah (D Ramirez mix)
Pigweed vid #1 = Stephan Bodzin-Tron and #5 = Martin H-Tromb
I dunno about the rest but jesus christ, 3 is ing YUGE (Curb Yuge) and I don't remember it being played live at all, which is really sad w/ me being sober :(
Floorfiller
glad you guys had a great time...sounds like the kind of warehouse parties they had about 6-7 years ago...woulda been cool to remember...great way to see the D-man throw down all dirty and nasty hehe.
kabelicious
If anyone finds these recorded sets from Skylab, please post!!!! Between the two of them, BBB & Diggers, solid frickin' GOLD. :)
