well lawler left me feeling like a dirty whore. he can be hit or miss for me, but saturday night was definitely hit.
he was playing just dirty nasty house for most of the night, sprinkled with some tribal here and there. personally i couldn't have asked for more from him.

yeah it's a dark club, but i don't think my camera really takes good video's there.
but yeah imo a machine that just did music to the beat would be better than the guy who actually controls the lights at vinyl.

Vinyl needs:
-someone to fix/set the audio properly
-a new central air system
-customer service in the event the previous two bite you in the ass
-interesting lighting, although they are just trying to cram as much as possible into their space - rather than focusing on doing one thing well unf...
but Junior Boys - FM FTW|

Les Djinns rocks! We, unfortunately, had a night at the Shelter (Milk Bar), while Doc Martin played upstairs and couldn't make it to Lawler. I really enjoy his style and wish I could've been there. As far as lighting and such, Vinyl and the Church will probably not change. I'm pretty sure that Regas is all about maximizing profits and isn't likely to put too much into those arenas. Rumour has it he might be looking to get out of the club business too, but that's hearsay. If ownership changes hands, on either club, I would expect some changes, but that may never happen.

So how was the Lee this weekend? Got a text message from Mr. Mindshifter. :) Hope it was a doozy!
We'll be out at Vinyl Sat night for BBB and then afterhours. Might make it out Friday night for Loco Dice - don't know yet.

LEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
all saturday did was solidify that Lee is hands down my favorite dj. (y)
we had heard rumors that lee was playing an extended set (open to close) we were shooting for an arrival time of about 10pm, but we got a call at like 9:20 saying that he was already on the decks, so stopped spinning and jumped in the car to head down. we got to vinyl at about quarter to 10 and when we got inside sure enough there was lee in the booth playing for about 6-8 people :p
jules and i went up into the booth and chatted him up a bit he's playing romania for NYE, he was telling us about the last time he played vanguard in LA that they played afterhours at some house til 4pm the next day. I noticed that he writes stuff on his vinyl covers like "chugging, dark, trippy little bleeps, play middle to end" makes sense when you have as much music as he does. he was saying that it was pretty cool for him to be playing from the beginning because he got to have a good progression. after about 10 minutes up in the booth we decided to rejoin everyone else out on the floor.
lee's progression from 10-11:30 was simply stunning, and then he began to bang it out.
highlight of the night for me was the mouth to mouth mashup (jules i took a video of this with your camera)
everyone was dancing like ing crazy that night, good times.
