are you serious? 15 million was a CRAZY hometown discount for griffey. remember, this was during the era of arod, manny, belle etc's enormous contracts. it wasnt unheard of for a player to land a 20+ mil a year contract. and griffey (at the time) was better than both. say what you will about griffey and his injuries, etc. but there is no denying that he gives 110% in every game. and he's NEVER showed anything but class off the field. there aren't many genuine 'nice guys' in baseball today. he is one of the few remaining of a dying breed. and what are you talking about requesting 3 months off during the season? |

some do. but like i said, griffey is awesome. such a nice guy. and even if he ever was a little snippy, could you blame him? after the three seasons he's had, i wouldnt be surprised if i read that he had killed himself. i mean, he had potential to be called one of the 5 greatest of all time. and the crazy thing is that he STILL has a change to pass whoever's the HR king at that time. its funny that while they're playing, we dont realize just how truly great they are. but our kids will be asking us about bonds, griffey, sosa, rodriguez, piazza, etc. we dont even realize what we're witnessing. but i guess it's always that way. |

| david wright and yusmeiro petit were two mets selected for the futures game. ive mentioned a lot before on what wright's been doing, but petit is quickly becoming our best pitching prospect. he's been compared to sid fernandez. he's still only in A ball, but look at the numbers. 9-1 through 14 starts with a 2.10 ERA. he has 112 strikeouts in 77 innings while walking 21. now thats ridiculous. |

well, if you really think about it, the mets havent really been burned THAT many times. yeah, most of the time the guy we get sucks, but the prospects never pan out either. dotel and izzy are closers. paul wilson is finally good at age 34. where the hell is billy traber? and the mets have a new gm now that doesnt do trades only for the backpages. he's already said that unless the cubs offer us mark prior, david wright isnt going anywhere. so thats a move in the right direction. GUARANTEED that if steve phillips was still the gm, we'd have beltran and no david wright or jason phillips. |

| so. freddy garcia is a now a member of the white sox. the m's got miguel olivo, who's a young major league catcher (.270, 7 homers, 26 rbi), jeremy reed, who is a top prospect with a career .334 avg in the minors. and michael morse, im not really sure about. but the sox gave up ALOT to get freddy. which means that the prices of all other pitchers on the market this year will go up. i hope the mets just wait and go after carl pavano or matt clement in the off season rather than trade for a mediocre pitcher. |

this trade killed me. im not high on garcia and to give up olivo and reed was just stupid. i just hope we do something this year because we have nothing to look forward to after this year...losing mags, garcia's contract is up. its going to be tough. |
