Vasquez was hurt last year and throwing 5 mph less. Plus he's playing in Arizona, not NYC. Weaver couldn't handle NYC either, too surfer guy. I think the Yankees aren't patient enough with their pitchers and they made a big bonehead move in not resigning Lieber, instead for Wright.
Yanks made a lot of bonehead moves.
George signing Sheff on his own even though Cashman worked out a deal for Vlad. Deciding again to go with age in Big Unit instead of building towards the future in signing Beltran.
There's more but I've already started to drink so this won't got anywhere... |

1. are getting old
2. had ONE good year in their careers a la carl pavano
3. just can't handle pitching in ny, a la weaver, vazquez, kenny rogers, jose contreras, etc
i think mel stottlemyre has earned his paycheck. see david wells, david cone, jimmy key, andy pettitte, roger clemens, orlando hernandez, etc. |
