We're up by a 1/2 game. I'm not that geared up for that. Last time in July we were up for one day. I want to keep winning and build a tiny cushion if we can before heading into Fenway for the last 3 games. If we're up by 2 or something, I can't see us losing. Boston's pitching has been absolutely horrific lately! Their bullpen is even worse than the Yankees which is quite hard to imagine really. But we got Gordon and Rivera. Timlin is a great middle guy but not a closer.

Let's keep our hats on for awhile. Got to keep winning day after day!

I'm hoping Yanks sneak in and all these trials and tribulations makes them more battle tested for the playoffs. They will have experienced do or die games for a month practically and won't be as susceptible to choking hopefully.

Going to the game tonight and tomorrow, my last two games of the regular season for me. Not the RF bleachers this time though...

My awards: (Not who I think will win, but who I think should win)

AL MVP
David Ortiz/Alex Rodriguez
Ortiz' #'s are better than Rodriquez'. However, everyone makes a big deal about Ortiz not playing defense. Boo hoo. But, to please everyone, including myself, I think they should be co-MVP. Both are incredibly great players. And there was a co-MVP in 1979 when Keith Hernandez and Willie Stargell both won.

NL MVP
Andruw Jones
Well duh. Leads the majors in homers and is having a crazy good year offensively. With a normal AJ year, the Braves would be fighting with the rest of the NL East for a WC spot.

AL RotY
Houston Street
There isn't a truly clear cut winner here. But Street has been almost as good as Mariano this year. He should get it over Johnny Gomes and Robinson Cano.

NL RotY
Jeff Francouer
Yeah. He hasn't been up a whole year. Yeah. He didn't walk unintentionally in over 130 ABs. But the kid is a machine. 20 years old and putting up monstrous numbers. Not to mention the crazy good arm he has. In probably half the games, he is about 3 assists behind the league leader, Cliff Floyd.

NL Cy Young
Roger Clemens
He has a sub-2.00 ERA. wins. Case closed.

AL Cy Young
Johan Santana
Again, there is no clear cut winner here. And with the White Sox guys sucking and Halladay injured, Johan deserves it again. His numbers are absurd once again.

A sub-3.00 ERA.
9.22 K/9
5.44 K/BB
0.97 WHIP

Yikes. After a not-so-good first half (3.98 ERA), he has been insane (1.64 ERA). Of course, he won't get it because Fatso has 20 wins and Johan only has 14. But the dude deserves it more than anyone else.

I think Ortiz should win the MVP. Ortiz just seems to have a lot more crucial homers/hits to win games vs. A Rod. For half the year, Pay Rod was just compiling stats when the game was 10-2 already. It seems like Ortiz always hits a homer when it's tied or when they're losing already. It's freaking uncanny how many times it happens. Ortiz would scare me more as pitcher than Pay Rod.

It's Huston Street... ;) And he should win I agree. Same for Francouer.

I think Johan should win it because I can't think of anyone in the AL that really stood out for me.

My biggest point about Cris Carpenter for the Cy Young is that he goes deeper into games. He's pitched almost 3 more games than Roger in the same amount of starts. So that's 6 innings, 1 ER vs. 8 innings, 2 ER. I'd take the 8 innings because it doesn't leave it up to the bullpen to decide the game as much (meaning a more quality arm for longer gives the team a better chance to win). Plus it saves their arms more. But really that ERA is just on another planet. Really tough choice for me but I'm going with Carpenter by a hair. Deeper into games and very similar stat numbers anyway.

What about manager of the year? What about comeback? Do you give it to Juiceambi from coming back from being a lying cheater?

^^^^ yea but A-Rod has more to over the team then just being DH!!!! and that should count for something IMO

Without Ortiz and just a regular avergage DH, the Red Sox are HORRIBLE. Without Rodriguez and just a regualar average 3B, the Yankees are still pretty damn good.

We'll agree to disagree about Carpenter. I don't think Carpenter's IP and what not are more abnormal than Clemens' ERA. Also, call me crazy, but Pedro should get more consideration than he is going to.

As for Manager of the Year? I couldn't care less about that. BUT... I am going to go with:

AL MotY
Eric Wedge or Ken Macha.

NL MoE (Manager of Eternity)
Bobby Cox. IMO, there is no one even in his stratosphere. Of course, a lot of it has to do with Sheurholz being a bonafide genius, but that's besides the point.

Comeback of the Year AL
I would give it to Giambi... but I dunno. Something about him rubs me the wrong way. So I'll go with Richie Sexson.

Comeback of the Year NL
Man... I so bad want to give it to Cornelius. He's one of my favorite players and seeing him do as well as he has makes me really happy. However... we ALL know that Griff deserves that. So, to Griffey it goes.

That is very true. Ortiz is definitely more valuable for the Red Sox than A-Rod is for the Yankees - , Im sitting behind a TV screen and I get nervous for any pitcher that is pitching to him. The way he covers the batters box, to his stance, to his demeaner when hes standing in the box, just intimidates you.

You look at A-Rod, and you know you gotta be careful, but youre like - aww aint he pretty... but when you see Ortiz coming up, the only thought thats running through your head is - !

Ortiz is the closest thing that the American League has to Barry Bonds.
