if it weren't for stanton, we wouldn't have been in that mess in the first place. i hate him. and i definitely trust franco more than stanton. stanton has proved that if there are runners on base when he comes in, THEY WILL SCORE!
my brother was at the phils game wednesday and he was getting some auto's. stanton was signing some for a few kids and my brother went over and said "hey mikkkeee!" and he just said "hey guys, sorry." and started to walk away. so my brother said "hey... nice couple of games against the yankees! you really stuck it to 'em!" heh... i think thats so funny. probably because i hate stanton though. |

| so either way, it shows we need lefthanded help. tho he got the questionable third strike call against posada, franco's also given up two bombs in the last two or three weeks or so, the one to abreu yesterday and one back while the mets were home during extra innings. i feel more comfortable when franco is holding a clipboard in the bullpen than when he's holding a glove. |

karim garcia to orioles
mike dejean to mets
yes! john franco will be relegated to holding the clipboard soon enough!!!! u gotta admit, franco almost ed up yesterday afternoon AGAIN. |

i'm still a member of the anti-stanton brigade. BUT dejean doesn't really get rid of franco because he is lefty, dejean is righty. i will be SO pissed if tomorrow the mets send orber moreno down to the minors in order to make room for dejean.
and did anyone see david ortiz? dude went nuts and threw two bats at the umpires. hahaha... terry francona was trying to hold him back, but there is no way in hell that was gonna work. |

and so begins the david wright era at shea stadium. a quiet 0 - 4 from d wright, but i like that he didnt strike out. he hit the ball very hard which is a great sign. i was at the game and he got a huge ovation from the fans for everything he did. especially his nice play in the first inning.
and sal... what do you think of big mike stanton? i havent heard boo's like that since roger cedeno and roberto alomar. stanton has taken over the role as the most hated met. |

here are some very interesting yankee numbers:
in 2005, they already owe 11 players $181 million.
in 2006, they owe 8 players $137 million.
in 2007, they owe 4 players $84 million.
in 2008, they owe 3 players $67 million.
to put that in perspective, the closest team is the red sox, who in 2005 owe 8 players - $78 million. the # of players is rough because there are some (like roger clemens) who are owed 1 million here and there. i only listed the players who are making a LARGE some of money. derek jeter and a-rod are signed till 2010. granted, the a-rod contract wasn't their doing... but they took it. now, i'm not saying jeter is gonna pull a giambi and just be terrible, but why would you sign a player for that long of a contract. my favorite yankee contract, though, is giambi's. every year his numbers get worse and worse... yet his salary keeps going up and up. 2007 - $21 million. 2008 - $22 million. i dunno about you, but $22 million for a DH who can barely DH seems a little silly to me. interesting site though...
