And no... the player does not choose. Trust me on that one.
Alfonso was good his whole Met career, starting with '97 up until 2002. |

Which is good because I think retiring numbers in sports is really, really dumb. |

lol, there gonna have to make room on that wall in yankees stadium... Jeter and Mariano are definitely getting their numbers retired.
When Jeter gets his number retired... #6 will be the only number bet. 1-10 that isnt retired.
PS: Than again, Torre wears #6... but I doubt they will retire it.
PPS: They will retire it if he wins this year, as well as a couple more in the next 5-6 years, IF hes still managing the Yanks. |

Really? Last time time I checked, they can't retire Mariano's number... as it's already retired. |

Because... that's dumb. :p Plus, IMO, Mariano shouldn't even be wearing that number anymore. The one number I don't have a problem with being retired is 42. But they shouldn't have allowed Vaughn and Mariano to continue wearing it. Oh well... |

I dont really like the whole robinson being retired throughout, but both Mo's had better careers than Jackie anyway, so why take the shirt off there backs |

Because if there was no Jackie Robinson, neither would be playing...
And... I wouldn't exactly consider the Hit Dog's career better than Jackie's. |
