I thank you for letting people discuss what they like without being harassed. I understand where your coming from on the ASOT thing too i don't always like the tracks he plays and most of them aren't that great usually, all i'm debating about is wether people can talk about what they love without being abused by the rest of the TA community. |
They'll just have to deal with it, because we all have our opinions. No offense, but it's not my fault if you get offended over my opinion when I say "I dislike this tune, yadda yadda" or "I dislike ASOT, yadda yadda." They need to understand that it's our opinion, it's a neutral board, and they're not going to shut us up because we don't choose to conform to the masses. |

| I don't think you get my point Radagast. Is it really that hard to refrain from laying into people for you? |

@Psiweaver
I disagree somewhat with what youve said. Like I said before, if they can back up, with evidence, their opinion, then their posts have as much of a right to be in the thread as all the pro-ASOT ones.
Of course, this is highly dependant on the thread title. If the title is "Why you like ASOT" then there really shouldnt be any anti type posts there. But if the thread is "A State of Trance" then all posts should be welcome and legitimate. Additionally if the people supportive of songs, shows, labels, etc supported their points better, it would be less debateable, but often its just something like "OMG I like this tune, isnt it so great?!" Its nice that you like a song, but to truly contribute to the forum, you should support what you say WITH EVIDENCE (reference anything! creativity? bassline? general energy?).
If I made a thread called "Why you HATE ASOT" I bet it would be flamed to death by those who love it.
Finally, personal attacks on anyone on an internet forum are lame and immature. Cursing someone out, demeaning their legitimate tastes, or just being a pest in general are ridiculous. This goes for people on both sides of any argument. The fact that it takes place on the internet makes it even worse.
*Im not saying ASOT for any reason except for that it is arguably the most high-profile of weekly trance shows and most people are familiar with it on some level. |

This isn't Candyland or Mister Rogers' Neighborhood friend. |

| Just out of curiosity what evidence would you use to back up why you like a song? |

So we're sheep if we stick-up for our right to say what we want on a neutral board, when others think we should shut-up and leave? |

Things like innovations used, such as comibnations of samples, sounds, filters, etc. Overall energy and a way a song builds up is key. If the song has lyrics, the lyrics should be meaningful and not some pop drivel combined with Jan Johnston on the auto tuner. Bassline's moving, panning, being filtered in and out, layering of sounds....these are all aspects of what i think are good songs. I could extend this list, but im hoping youve got the point?
Tell me why you like a song, not just simply that you like it.
Provide specifics for extra credit... |

I have no evidence as to why I like a song. I usually either like songs that are good or silly. As you probably do. What's your point? I don't doubt that you like what you like for whatever reason you like it. |

| I'm just messing around at this point. Both sides have good arguments i would just like the see the flames subside on TA because almost eveyrthread i've been in lately has had some sort of flaming in it. Just kinda sick of it at this point. It makes it a lot less fun and enjoyable to talk about music when you know that someone will most likely flame you regardless of what you say. IMHO |
