I'm just finding it funny how your quick enough to write off the people that are blinkered to Armin and your showing the exact same blinkers with PVD :stongue:

not at all, i think you could easily & happily say that pvd is a fairly dull/average trance dj when looking at his tracklists... but tracklists dont actually mean anything. Its whats in the club that counts, and ive only been disappointed with PvD a couple of times maybe, and ive seen him play tracks/music that when given to another 'trance' dj (like armin) they would not have the first clue as to what to do with it.

creativity? Oh god.

Maybe people like armins bland style because they just do. So its the generic-same old trance formula, maybe its not interesting.

But who ever said it has to be? And how can you define interesting? Your opinion counts for yourself and thats it.

What may be the same old trance tunes to you may be gold to another person.

I think in the end if armin loves what he plays and the fans who support him love what he plays thats all that counts.

Bottom line.

Tunes that have worked for me this year include

DJ Preach - Return to the Source/Illusiones
Bass Enchanters - Golden Moment (Mat silver vs Tony Burt Rmx)
Recluse - Yellow Moon
Kaylab - I Got You
Benjamin Bates - Lost myself in the way you close your eyes
Tetraflux - Okinawan
Devilfish - Man Alive
Infected Mushroom - I Wish (Skazi's Brutal Rmx)
Skazi vs 40 - Smells like teen spirit
Crunchy Punch - Innersphere
Astrix - Tunsis
Beetseekers - Reflexion
Commander Tom - Attention (F&W Rmx)
Hertz - Recreate
Adam Beyer & Jesper Dahlback - Number In Between/Redemption
Arc in the Sky - Vaniquer
Eskimo - Party Pooper

and plenty more, but out of those, only 2-3 max will have been on ASOT, making my point that ASOT isn't the only place to hear the new stuff first ;)

Riiight. You mean they'd play it at the speed it was produced at rather than +8? ;)

To be honest, tracklists mean a lot, its a good indication of what he's playing at the time.

A selection of what he played at gods last night....

Kuffdam & Plant - Summer Dream
Reflekt Feat. Delline Bass - Need To Feel Loved
Robert Gitelman - Children Of The Sun
Marcos - But For A Day
Active Sight - Tears Of Joy
Matys & Marc van Linden - AM 2 PM
DJ Danjo & Rob Styles - Duende (Signum Mix)
Paul van Dyk - For An Angel (Marc van Linden Remix)
Paul van Dyk & Peter Heppner - Wir Sind Wir (Club Mix)
Nu-NRG - Freefall (Paul van Dyk Remix)

But then again as ive said already, horses for courses. You don't like Armin you dont go see him simple.

Word. Probably the post which has made the most sense.

You'll find that until no one goes to see Armin he'll carry on playing the style he likes and people like instead of bowing down to the message boards and changing his style to fit into the favourite dj catagory for the chin strokers

no i mean that you give a full on electro track to armin and hes just going to put it to the side because he could NEVER play it, whereas PvD will play it (provided he likes it obviously) :haha: that tracklist you put up looks crap, and its what id expected would happen, which is why i didnt actuallly go. Dont get me wrong, the way that PvD plays standard playlist fodder in the UK probably pisses me off a lot more than it pisses you off. He does himself no favours, hes capable of so much more than that, but most dont see it, and i suppose how can they when this is all he feeds them over here... although that would have to be balanced with our 'trance' clubs being full of fairly narrow minded people who would leave the dancefloor when some breaks came on...

anyway, this is about armin, and my point is that he just hasnt got as wide a scope... yes hes a trance dj, but where is it written that he MUST only play trance... he could play so much more interesting / diverse stuff, but he doesnt, and thats his choice & its why i think hes not worth the effort.

Yeah but where is it written that he has to play everything else?

What he's been playing for the past 2-3 years has got him a lot of fans. Why change his style just to suit a couple of chinstrokers?

Thats my point, its not the fact that Armin is crap, you just don't like any of the music he plays.

but look at laurent garnier, he plays everything from full on techno to drum & bass and jazz... im not a fan at all really but i would never call him crap... hes obviously got a lot of talent.

i can happily call armin crap though as he is so narrow... The fact that hes doing that because he likes it isnt relevant, and i wouldnt want him to change if he doesnt want to (again irrelevant) - the FACT is that djs with really narrow scope are crap, thats my scale, and you have to have one really when making these judgements.

DJs are DJs, they dont have to just play one style, if they restrict themselves to one style then that is nobodys doing but their own, and they should take the rap for it.
