Yup, sounds like numbers are down this year. The usual people going (Brits, Germans, Italians, French etc.) are less but also the number of people going from further a field has apparently really dropped.

The economy has hit the party island, I the only thing I hope is that they realise they need to bring their prices down. All property rentals are at least 30% higher than any other island in the med and it;s got to be one of the most expensive places to drink in the world...

hope drink prices drop by September!

Hotel/Apartment rental rates are probably not going to change much in Ibiza compared to other places because no other place in the world offers what the Ibiza does. The Spanish real estate market has crashed and yet Ibiza continues to thrive because of the unique tourist industry.

We got them here for pre-pre-sale:

But, they're 45€, which I still think it's worth it.

To sum it up:
You meet someone in Spain, and then take them to Greece on holiday!

I really didn't meet anyone my age in Greece. They were either partnered (and there on holiday to relax, or hookup with other couples), or a lot older (40+). I did meet people at the bars, but nothing to speak about.

I actually never got out to Cavo Paradiso (I know).

Beaches were beautiful though, but much harder to get to (to get to Super Paradise, I had to walk to a bus, bus to a boat, boat to a beach) than Spain. Much more relaxing than Ibiza, but there is a barrier to entry regarding the flights and accommodations; I think that's why there is an older crowd in Mykonos. It might be different in Eos. Santorini is beautiful (from what I've heard), but romantic. I don't know much about the other islands.

Athens was a bit dumpy. Every ruins looks like the rest. I only stayed 1 day; I should have stayed 2, but more than that, you'll be bored. Unless you time it well, you may have to stay a day each way in Athens (I avoided that going to Mykonos, but it took me quite sometime to book my flights, and I had 3 legs of travel: we left Cocoon at 6:30a, taxied back to our flat, finished packing, checked out and went to the airport. I was flying from 8:30a and finally made it to my room in Mykonos at 10:30p (with 1h time difference)), but I was forced to stay in Athens on the way home back to the states.

After 8 days of partying, I really needed 4 days of laying at the beach/pool (even though we did that in Ibiza too) in Mykonos.

Talking to people there, yes.

However, for the Brits that are there for drinking, it's still pretty crowded (San An): We met hordes of groups from United Kingdom that would take £150 with them to last a week. Besides getting sloshed in San An, they would maybe go to Pacha one night, Eden/Es Paradis another night and just stay in San An the rest. They really wouldn't go out to the disco every night.

You do have to pace yourself a bit. The Germans in the flat next to us were there for 15 days, and they went to a disco about every 3-4th night (so 5 times in total).
Out of the 8 nights we were there, we went to 5 discos, bar-hopped 1 night, did stuff at our flat one night, and chilled one night. That night, we drank until 2, and then went for pizza and finally went to bed at 4am.

If anyone has any other questions about what we did and why we did it, I'd be happy to answer/give advice. Just as an FYI, I save up and spend most of my disposable income on traveling, so take that into consideration. I brought 2.000€ in "spending cash" for my 3 weeks which didn't include any flights or rooms for Barcelona, Ibiza, Mykonos and Athens. I did bring home 500€ which I'll just use for my next trip.

I'm probably not going next year, but will plan to go in 2011. I have a lot more countries to visit!

I have seen him 2 times in Ibiza 2007 and 2008 his show in 2007 was one of the best nights of my life in 2008 he was ok nothing crazy... It just depends on his mood when Tiesto wants to play classics and commercial he is the best.

Are you British yourself? I was out in that region long enough to "wait in the queue" instead of "wait in line" :gsmile:

I felt the way you felt...once every 4 years sounds great for that island. But I may make it 3 and go next year. Lets see...

hey dollaroff, i think we may think alike, i thought the same of mykonos...not as fun as ibiza. and getting to super paradise was a pain...cause we missed the last boat back and no taxis would come down there to pick us up! long story. we are going back to ibiza next year, cant wait!
