My fare still wins, though, but I snagged it at a good moment.

When you book flights, I recommend trying out http://farecast.live.com ...

You can get a roundtrip from SFO to Madrid (MAD) right now in September with a week stay for $644, including taxes, through Continental.

LAX to Madrid is a little more expensive is -- $700-$770.

Michelle you should go during the closing parties. For sure Armin will be at the closing party for Armada Night on 9/15 - and very likely Markus we'll be there. Hopefully there will be a pre-party with them somewhere too. Then two days later on 9/14 Ferry is playing at Cream. BOOM!

Hypersky - Is Eden that bad??? Never been there before, but I was thinking to go to the Judgement Sunday closing party. Nothing against Brits, but I don't dig the SanAn vibe (with the exception of Mambo and Del Mar of course!)

San An is actually great fun and can be a good counterbalance to the inevitable Playa d'en Bossa fatigue.I had a great time at Eden last year, particularly partying with the Judgement Sunday crew. The reason i drew a distinction between San An and DC10 was to highlight that some people aren't that interested in the DC10/CircoLoco phenomenon. These are usually Brits who stay in San An and rarely deviate outside the confines of Eden, Amnesia, Privilege, and Es Paradis. Nothing wrong with it, just a different flavor of party with a completely different crowd that happens appeal to primarily Brits who are still stuck in the Crasher era.

Back to San An - My recommendation is to definitely spend an entire day there from late afternoon (sunset and dinner on the strip), then start the early evening off by bouncing around some of the pre-party bars before going to Eden. If you're into Jules' style then you'll definitely have a good time, especially as he usually has good guest like Svd, Marcel Woods and the like on hand. Its the perfect way to break the monotony of going to Space and Amnesia all the time. I plan on repeating this again during the summer on nights where We Love Space doesn't have anyone i care to see.

My intention is to catch SVD/Halliwell at Judgement Sunday who I'm hoping at least one of will be at the closing party - I'm not really into Jules that much - not a great DJ IMHO - sounds like it's alright though. But yeah, I'm staying at the Garbi, after several recommendations, and will probably do as you mentioned, head over early evening to the beach bars, then slowly make my way over.

This is my 3rd time - 1st time didn't even know what Ibiza was, was around 1999 and we only stayed for one night and went just to El Divino!
2nd time 3 nights - Space/Amnesia/Pacha, and I was dead after.
I'm working my way up to a full summer :)

But actually I have an agreement with my wife, one day on, one day off, cause I want to rent a car this time and discover some hidden gems - I want my wife to want to go back and I dont want to *just* go to clubs. I've only got about a week though :(

Now to find out about some of these underground parties!

Garbi is an excellent choice given that its right on the thick of things in PDB and was renovated just over a year ago, which bumped it up to a 4 star standard. By all accounts everyone who stayed there was satisfied. I'll be right next door in Bali Beach Apartments.

I went to the Full Moon Beach party in Portinax. They are down to 1 per season now due to new party restrictions, but It happened to be during the time I was there and I would argue it was the best party I did in my 12 days there. Its mostly those who are there for the entire summer and seek something different for a change.

3k heads on the north of the Island far away from the madness, all partying on the beach and in the water, not to mention it was a free party and I walked up with an ice chest full of booze and just camped out all night. It stood up to the Sasha/Prydz at Amnesia and Digweed/Cox at Space parties I attended.

Renting a car was the best choice I made, there are alot of places to go see. If anybody gets a car, u must find this little spot near Sa Caleta, phenomenal food, and view of Es Vedra in the background

we drove into the wilderness and hiked up from there to find this view

also, snorkel in cala xarraca was a great decision as well if u have a car, just remember to get a mask that fits proper

Yeah, it really does lol.

I like FareCast because it predicts if you should wait to buy or buy now for most flights within the next week. And they are correct about 75% of the time (this is not a number I just made up, hehe). If you are booking a big expensive flight and they predict the price will go down and are confident, you can buy a "Fare Guard" .. it's like $10. If you get this and then the price goes up, they actually will reimburse you the difference in the airfare.

If the price stays the same or goes down, though, you lose the $10.

Also, whenever possible try booking for flight directly through the airline and then use yapta.com . With Yapta, you can give them your confirmation # of your flight and then if the fare does drop, it'll notify you which lets you know to contact the airline and get a refund for the price difference or at the very least get credit towards a next flight. That said, it doesn't look like they ahve a lot of airlines they can track for you....but I've never been given a big hassle when callng up asking for the difference in airfare.

They happen all the time but are generally invisible to tourists since they are routinely organized by summer workers, club promoters, and villa owners and so the the people who attend them tend to be a combination of just that. There are a few places in Ibiza Town the hills around San An that have them. Its good to make friends with promoters or even summer workers, as they generally know whats happening behind the scenes on a given night.

that's what i heard talking to the locals and so i made friends with the space pr, but to no avail. i heard about some undergrounds that were in caves, abandoned zoos, beaches, store basements, villas, yachts, etc but never successfully infiltrated one :(

don't stop there. to the left of the cliff there is a path that leads up the mountain. it's not much of a hike, maybe 30 min, but the view is worth it...

we also tried the snorkeling, but when we went there was an invasion of jellies, thousands of them, one of which stung me in the thigh :(

Farecast's deal reminds a bit of Orbitz's refund policy (which is lame - you only get the refund if someone actually books your identical ticket at a lower price - they don't monitor much!)

And wow I am going to try Yapta.

Yes, I always book direct. It's bad enough dealing with the airline, let alone a 3rd party.

here's the most universal tip you need: ask the locals, workers, store owners what their favorites are. start by saying you are not just there to party, but you want to experience the local color. they will be more than happy to point you in all the right directions. that's how i found my favorite beach on the island: cala benirras. oh and when in san an, you must must must eat at david's pizza, as often as you possibly can. you'll be hard pressed to find better food on that side of the island.
