ya well back in 1973 pacha was the only major club around and you could have a complete party experience just by going there. but it's 2009 and dc10 exists so your ibiza experience would be incomplete without having experienced the infamous circoloco party. my point is if you're saving up for your one chance to visit the island, you might as well wait until all the best clubs and best parties are in full effect. dc10 is without a doubt one of the top clubs of ibiza and circoloco has the most amazing vibe regardless of what your taste in music is. my next trip to the island will be lighter on the partying end, but one thing i look forward to is making time for every circoloco i can. of course if all you listen to is commercial house and trance, then you probably couldn't even begin to appreciate that place so if that's the case, ignore my input. |

Its a good idea to have about two weeks in order to get the best out of the Island. I've met more than a few people, who after arriving in Ibiza on their first trip, quickly realized that its not really all about the clubs, but moreso about the combined experience of amazing people, clubs, great beaches, unscheduled parties, exploring the Island, taking a day trip to Formentera etc. Its the random experiences that often define the magic of the visit.
One thing that Ibiza thankfully lacks, is the pervasive DJ worship thats common in most big cities in the US. Visitors generally give more respect to the club night (Cocoon, We Love, Cream, etc) than the DJ who happens to be playing on a given night. This is something that i find refreshing about the atmosphere there. |
this is an understanding we took with us to the island... clubbing, yes, but also meeting people, making time for the dozens of surreal beaches on all sides of the island, the vast natural beauty of the island's rural corners, the local crafts, culture and favorites, and visiting the non-touristy towns such as santa eularia just to explore. formentera was also on our list, but we needed more than one day to capture that island. one day was just enough to hit 3 beaches and an amazing dinner (would have helped to have scooters). my next trip out there will be to fill in the blanks from my last trip. that means a lot less amnesia/space/pacha/etc and a lot more of the above plus some sailing. but from a clubbing perspective, which is what i took this thread for, you can't just miss circoloco. |

Its all relative Rich. Some people have come and never bothered to visit DC10 because they prefer cheese trance and so consistently opt for Eden, Amnesia, and Privilege. |

a lot of people go to ibiza and do it all wrong. just go to the westend and watch all the same faces get f'ed at the same hip hop pubs every night. i understand there are people out there that are just that ignorant/naive/closeminded about music, and if you're only interested in hearing trance 7 days a week then obviously ignore me, but most people i know are all about checking out the best parties, trance/house/techno/breaks/whatever, especially when travelling abroad. for those people: hold off until dc10 reopens. |

Precisely my point. People come to the island for different reasons. There is no one size fits all Ibiza schedule capable of pleasing everyone. There are loads of working class Brits who catch direct flights every year to get pissed up at Eden and muck around in San An and couldn't give a toss about seeing Villalobos or Tania Vulcano. This sort of natural selection pleases me. :) |

They happen all the time but are generally invisible to tourists since they are routinely organized by summer workers, club promoters, and villa owners and so the the people who attend them tend to be a combination of just that. There are a few places in Ibiza Town the hills around San An that have them. Its good to make friends with promoters or even summer workers, as they generally know whats happening behind the scenes on a given night. |

Been waiting a long long long time to get to Ibiza. Had to put my foot down skip out on WMC take up some after work side jobs and start saving what I could to get there. I also have been playing around with my seclude at work so I do not have to use any of my precious vacation days. (My hours are not just given to me every year need to work to earn)
Trust me it has been a pretty rough road and work hard enough just to make it by.
Yes when I am planing my trip to Ibiza I have to see my 3 favorite Dj's.. Markus, Ferry and Armin... after all I am not going to spend this much money and Not see them! If Markus and Armin are together even better 2 birds one stone.
During the day it will be all about exploring and discovering. After all I have never been outside of the US. At night it will be all about the music. Yes my ears and my body gravitates mostly to trance and progressive Trance. But I grove to most beats of music... most ( Call me close minded all you want... but I can not get the sound and the hoo ha of minimal tech. To me it is the same beat with a few cool little clicks and beeps Really does not work for me)
I can not wait to get my butt to Ibiza! |

When you book flights, I recommend trying out http://farecast.live.com ...
You can get a roundtrip from SFO to Madrid (MAD) right now in September with a week stay for $644, including taxes, through Continental.
LAX to Madrid is a little more expensive is -- $700-$770. |

Michelle you should go during the closing parties. For sure Armin will be at the closing party for Armada Night on 9/15 - and very likely Markus we'll be there. Hopefully there will be a pre-party with them somewhere too. Then two days later on 9/14 Ferry is playing at Cream. BOOM!
Hypersky - Is Eden that bad??? Never been there before, but I was thinking to go to the Judgement Sunday closing party. Nothing against Brits, but I don't dig the SanAn vibe (with the exception of Mambo and Del Mar of course!)
