This is were you and I are different. I like substance. I like and musicianship. I want choruses, verses, bridges, melody, harmony all that old good . I want music. There was plenty of that back in the day but then again back then we insisted that the songs we would listen to deserved the honor.

I just appreciate techno for what techno is, and verse structure music for what it is.
I don't think there is necessarily a lack of substance, just a different kind of substance. (and it's not )

I try to see the value in most music knowing that regardless of what I can say in critical context these people are working to make good music for me. But f*****ng Minimal is where I draw the line.
When something sounds so pretentious & pointless than why would I like that?
And why exacly should good full sounding real music take a back seat to this pointless crap?

No one said that. We're all surprised at your 'musical' inflexibility shall I say. We all find Michel Angelo marvelous but Jackson Pollock is still misunderstood by a lot of people nowadays. It is not because a style of music is underdeveloped to your taste that there was less work behind the music.

Sorry to say, but that only furthers my belief that you're a ing moron. I'm a "minimalist"? :stongue: I don't spin "Minimal" and I have never claimed to. Before you try to throw around personal attacks, it might do you best to actually educate yourself so you don't look like an ass.
As many other people have said (as have I), it doesn't make a single difference if you like or don't like a certain type of music. The only thing that is the problem here is your unwillingness to go do clubs that don't play what you perceive to be "minimal." Go digging and find the music you like, don't just expect the same people to always shove the exact same type of music down your throat just to make you happy. It really is a depressing thing to see somebody so upset with something yet so unwilling to show any clear effort to make a difference. |
