woscar,

you dont need to lol, read my last post )). you can argue both ways and what you say makes sense but what i say makes sense too.

I think both ways are correct ways to argue.

IMO people focus too much on whether the name is an adjective or a noun. That is not always but can be sort of irrelevant. What exactly does techno describe?? Think about it. It is just a word that is used to describe music with particular attributes that can be pulled together in a group. Regardless of which word it is a noun or an adjective it in essence describes a set of attributes possessed by a track.

Im sure when someone decided to label techno as techno they used it as an adjective- an adjective for music, like "techo-music" - because of its certain technogenic/robotlike or whatever you will describe them attributes. ANd only later it has became a noun for a genre of music. Im pretty sure they same applies to house music. When someone first thought of a name house music they obivously used it as an adjective, like "house-music" and not like a a noun. You know like this music is for listening in the house not like this music is a house and later it too became a noun for a genre of music.

I mean you may argue endlessly wheter something exists or not and pull out thick dictionaries but imo there is a whole movement of people that identify themselves as minimalists who identify their music as just minimal which is a good indication that it exists.

if you really think about it all or at least most genre names are initially adjectives that describe music. For example disco, classical, techno, minimal, folk, country, anything really

Breakdowns do not need to be devoid of rhythm.

Then what's the problem with modern-day uplifting trance then? I guess in your book PLINK PLONKS, trumpets and weird glitchy noises are far more musically credible then supersaws, breakdowns and synths.

I have you on ignore for a reason, and thats because there is no point in you pressing the issue with me anymore. I've already replied to you 800 million times in the past with countless examples of the music I like and play, from pretty much all over the spectrum.

What exactly is it you're looking for here?

More examples you can write off as plink plonk music no matter what the they are?

I don't like supersaws or overly epic music in general, but I love breakdowns and synths and I have posted great examples of both already.

Yeah, but you know what kind of breakdown I'm talking about.

Dance music doesn't have breakdowns? I'm not exactly what you're getting at here. Explain.

His point is that the kind of breakdowns you find in epic trance up dancing. So if we take Clovis' statement "Dance music is for dancing" as given, minimal would be preferable to epic trance by virtue of not completely stopping every fourth minute.

You really need to let this go, mate. You know I love the same music as you, but you have to accept that it's all a matter of taste, and what the you're achieving by trolling every discussion with "PLINK PLONK" I really don't know. You keep attacking Enydo, but he showed big love for my epic house sets, so where does that leave you?

I think you'd be much less pissed off with tech-house if you just ignored it and started searching for new music that fits your tastes.

I'm annoyed because it's dominating the house scene. Every Tom, Dick and Harry is playing this stuff. My favorite DJs have become an absolute bore to me because they've all decided to hop on the tech-house bandwagon. I'm sure you'll agree with me that Sasha and Digweed have been absolutely piss boring the past couple of years since they started playing it.

You do realize that nobody called it "classical music" until a few hundred years later, right? Anyways, regardless of what you say, minimalism is an artistic concept, not a musical genre.

Definitely. I went to see Sasha the other week and apart from 40 minutes of melodic stuff at the start, he bored the hell out of me. But how many tech house fans on TA praise Sasha's new sets? No one I know of. It's entirely possible Sasha & Diggers have just gone to .

Prog was never going to dominate the house scene forever. Minimal and dub techno were underground in the 90s, and their fans had to work hard to find stuff that fitted their tastes. You just have to accept that prog's dominance has passed and now you'll have to work hard to find it. You're not going to topple the Tech House Empire by complaining on TA.

Unfortunately, you don't control the formation of genres. Minimal is both.
