What do you want me to learn about? What sort of minimal?
Please let me know what records I should purchase & study. I got about four and a half thousand dollars to spend on minimal records. So where do I start? Minimal. Tech house? Micro House? Electro?
I want to know so that I do not buy too many records that won't further my goal of cultivating a taste for minimal tech.

A.) I'm not going to help you become a "minimalist" because such a thing doesn't really exist. It's simply another stereotype/generalization that you're spouting.
B.) The rest of your post reeks of sarcasm. If you want an idea of what is good, take a listen to any and all mixes by the people arguing against you in this thread. It's not "Minimal", rather it's what you misconceive to be "Minimal". It's all fantastic music by fantastic producers and DJs. If you don't like it, then you don't like it. Move on and find music by people you do enjoy and stop whining.
That's really all that I can tell you. Most of what will solve your problem is your own personal need to just grow up.

am only posting this because i am drinking, and even if there is no point, lost causes always seem less so in my condition.
over produced is beautiful for your little ipod buds to listen to 9 minutes of a track that goes nowhere but is plur.
the so called mnml leaves a dj freedom to add his interpretation to the track through mixing ability.
see: not having to worry about 45 clashing melodies and just doing 64 bass switch like a unicorn dj.

Well first time around I was concerned with minimal but now I am no longer just smug and derisive toward Minimal but anything else that that exploits that post 2005 use of repetition, and understated development.
It only takes me about 3 seconds to listen to a track and as soon as that tiny kick kicks in I dismiss it as minimal. This is indeed an unfortunate occurrence as the track might later break down to a super cheesy female narrative over melodies where the songs are birds for the air creating symphony among symphony. And that would definitely ''be beautiful for my little ipod buds to listen to 9 minutes of a track that goes nowhere but is plur.'' Or even a party where I could dress like a candy raver and talk about unity and love!
I am sure that all the people in this scene that don't quite understand what the pathology behind liking minimal is probably fit that unicorn dj worshiping description you are trying to paint.
Regardless, I am deeply saddened and dismayed to learn that all this time I have been misconceiving anything that exploits that sort of use of repetition, and understated development to be minimal.

As far as the DJ Interpreting the tracks through mixing ability I would like to comment on that but here you go again coming to me with this dj nonsense... I can't help you... I am a grown man. Djs are there to promote the music. Only gullible infants and 14 year-old ravers think the dj is doing something super-spectacular other than giving people a good night out. Grown men know better than that. But perhaps you are right! Maybe abolishing the melody all-together for the sakes of DJs not having to worry about clashing is a wonderful idea. Then we will have Dull-Minimal-, Dull--That-Is -Trying-To-Sound-Like-Minimal-But-Is-Not. and Really_Really_Minimal_Dull_.
With the help of a new piece of software called ReallyMinimal™ and endorsed by Richie Hawtin we can abolish melody all together! This revolutionary new software will force all the tunes in atony and replace complex passages with drum loops and reverse effects so the music can fit in every mnml & tech house trying to be djs set until the end of time.

Here's a thought, why don't you stop listening to dance music since it's pretty clear you hate just about 90% of it.
Dance music is for dancing. It is repetitive, extremely rhythm centered, and has never nor probably ever will be the pinnacle of musical expression.
