Sorry it doesn't tend to stagnate for years and years like you seem to wish. Also minimal is not even really that popular anymore, you really don't know what you're talking about. |
Have you even read this thread or did you just come into the last page of this thread? When we say "minimal", we're equating it with genres like current modern techno/tech house/deep house with glitchy, loopy and minimaliistic sounds/effects. |

Ok you caught me, I didn't read through the entire cluster of a thread.
Still though, you are as predictable as all get out. We get it. You like progressive. |

I still can't get over how Clovis comes in here and brags about how great his little minimal scene is. What a ing joke. :stongue: |
Ever bothered to download one of his sets? Sorry but if your ears are so ed up that you can't tell the difference between progressive house and minimal then you have no business here.
This is NOT minimal, Clovis will concur. |

Yeah I have downloaded a couple of his sets. Can't say they've lasted more than a minute in my hardrive. Sounded like glitchy, loopy blip bloopy . Like I've said before, when people are complaining about "minimal", we're equating it with genres like current modern techno/tech house/deep house with glitchy, loopy and minimaliistic sounds/effects. Why? Because it's easy to associate boring tripe all under one umbrella just for convenience.
Again, I apologize for not embracing and conforming the current cool "trends" in house music.
And I love how you come e-raging at my post while completely ignoring Stevesto's post above.
PS: What the does telling the difference between progressive house and minimal have to do with anything? Are you serious? You minimal elitist hipsters are simply too much. |

CLOVIS WILL CONCUR BECAUSE HE IS THY LORD OF EDM KNOWLEDGE.
Wow, just wow. Is he your idol? Is he your inspiration? |

| So you're just one of those guys who think glitchy music is automatically minimal music? What's the next step? People handling guns with both arms crossed are automatically real gangstas? Please be honest. |

wtf?
first of all i agree with the OP, I just think he argues like a ****. my opinion in every case is 'stop bitching, do something about it'. bitching won't do anything, but buying the music you think is better than what you don't like will. I could bitch all day about the music I don't like but I gave that up because it was pointless. Now I just buy music I like (not minimal techno lol) and put sets together that a lot of people listen to, and some people decide that they also like it.
second of all, you are posting one set of dozens which i have recorded. There are two to four tracks in this one that I would call minimal techno (6-9) and they are used in a specific and deliberate way, to reduce the sound to its most stark basic elements while retaining the flow, allowing me to build it back up again to the end. There's no way you can call this mix minimal techno if you actually listen to it. And if you do you're just very misinformed. There's nothing blippy, bloopy, or glitchy about that mix.
here's the download link, thanks for the promotion
I collect and play everything from dub to disco to post rock to idm to deep house to detroit techno to chicago house to nj garage etc.
here's an incomplete list of my other mixes

I know you can't get over it, and it's going to bother you for a long ing time. :stongue:
My "little minimal scene" includes some of the best DJs in the world and the some of best parties in the world with some of the best people in the world. And like I said...we're having a great time. :)
I hope someday you can find things that make you happy in life, because that is what makes it worth living! |

I make a couple 'minimal' quips, and now I'm lumped in with this bunch.:(
For the record, I do find a lot of the plink-plonk-hiss stuff out there incredibly dull. But I'm not overly bothered by it either. Sure, I'll point out its faults if I have to hear it in a CD I'm reviewing (or its strengths when handled effectively), and the quips will continue just as they do whenever we're 'discussing' generic epic trance here. However, it's just a stylistic trend that grew more popular than it really needed to be, and will eventually either subside once all the tourists leave, or suffocate from bloated excess (more likely the former).
I think I've actually been rather fortunate here in Vancouver, in that the 'minimal' hype didn't really catch on. Now, dubstep on the other hand... |
