oh, cd's came out. why? because they're much more efficient and cheaper to produce and duplicate |

i hate this , people expect labels and record stores to stay alive yet they do all to help the cause. the truth is, so many people have switched to cd/digital that the % of people buying vinyl has diminished over the years, greatly. |
And this switch took millions of dollars in sponsorsdhip money.
Coz you have to remember people loved vinyl a lot!
People fell into this digital trap and brought the scene down to digital record stores that are trying to sell records right next to the hubs that hand out the same records for free... lol
Way to go guys promoting dj gimmics for a check then anticipating record sales when your labels put out music.
Paul Oakenfold did not sign sponsorship deals with pioneer and did not switch until 2006. Despite the exesses people blame him for in the 90s I respect him for having the intelligence to understand what the format switch would mean for his sales and the scene as a whole.

hell, if i owned a second turntable, i'd be playing vinyl only, but i don't because i don't have the cash to spend as of yet, but i still buy as much as i can and i try to support artists who i KNOW deserve to be supported. |
Right everybody says this and it means absolutely nothing.
Everybody is a legal downloader that supports the artists on the internet but the fact of the matter is 80% of all music gets downloaded illegaly. So 8 out of ten people download the tracks online then lie about it. Why? because the can. And the profits for the labels and artists? Peanuts...
Now back on topic please. |

First of all, I am terribly sorry to break the forums code , ponsshin. In these difficult times, staying on topic is my top priority, and I only violate it now in the important interest of illustrating why the scene is in this deep hole today and why it is starting to look like a thing from the past. I’d like to take issue with you saying I am not “musically flexible.” I’m not exactly sure what that means, but I’m guessing in your mind it involves listening to the same drum loop over and over and thinking it is great. So.. come to think of it I don’t take issue. |
Although I agree with some points you have made in this thread, you, sir, are mostly full of . |

You thought my posts were wrong so you changed the font size to express your derision . Is this some sort of grammatical rule I missed in school? |

Why have you failed to provide input on whether or not you're willing to step up and try to fix what you perceive to be a problem? Or does it just sound that much easier to sit back and bitch and hope that things get "better"? |

I apologize apparently I switched the topic by creating a new one...
I don't see how that works out.
You would think I would completely switch the topic in this thread by posting the history of house music here but then again it might make some people seperate real music from not music at all

Dear Adam420
I’m still honored that you agree with some of the points even if you don't agree with all of them.
And the insult at the end, sir, classy.
It takes a special kind of idiot to come up with: you are mostly full of .
Despite my efforts to summarize my point idoru still has an unanswered question.

Am I willing to step up? Yes I am willing to step up!
Step one:
I talk about it. ;) |

He sits here and pisses and moans about how all of these different things are wrong with music, yet he has yet to mention the main thing: listener apathy. That's exactly what he's guilty of in this situation and that's exactly what will continue to perpetuate all of his "problems." |

People have been "talking about it" for years, and you're not the only one who has made a thread with such sentiments. Talking will get you nowhere in music, as artists will always continue to do their own thing rather than changing their tastes, their art to fit the desires of fans.
You're the problem. Dig for music you like, go to events that you know you will like and, hell, maybe even start throwing your own. It's out there, but you're too much of a spoon-fed baby to realize it. |
