Saying minimal sucks is like saying edm sucks it is too general. There are many subgenres of minimal and even within one subgenre artists have considerably different/unique sounds. There is barebone glitchy kind, there is loungy and tech housy stuff (the fad genres in North America), there also is italo, there is groovy, there is electro minimal, minimalish technofunk, turkish sound is shaping now too and so is bulgarian etc etc etc.
For example, I am not at all fond of the artists most in the US/Canada associate with minimal, yet I love minimal just a different kind.
IMO often people form a strong opinion about things based on very little information/experience/understanding. This I guess applies universally to all people to some extent. Which in turn leads to talk with little substance/relevance, which is sad ).
P.S. this thread needs some minimal

I don't consider that "minimal" in any sense of the word. Remember minimal isn't a genre but it is a style. I don't think Spartaque really makes "minimal" music in general either.

The thing is you may not consider it as minimal but it is. Spartaque makes harder electro influenced minimal techno. He himself describes his music so. I can easily name not tens but a few hundreds of other famous djs that you will say are not minimal but they are and they all describe themselves as minimalists.

No it is exactly a genre. It has many many different sub genres/styles within it. If you dont agree go to beatport then go to minimal and go through top 100. According to you like half of thouse tunes at least wont qualify as minimal. Yet they are labeled so by their producers and label managers who (IMO) understand what they make really well usually.
I am not exactly sure what you are fond of but I would suppose it is tech-housish/deep house influenced minimal stuff. Just as you said spartaque isnt minimal, i can say that what you listen to isnt minimal also (I dont even know what you like but hypothetically) then for that matter. At least a large portion of what you might think as minimal easily qualifies as tech house and sometimes deep house with techno influences.
To conclude minimal doesnt not only refer to stripped out ricardo villalobos type of beats which go well with methadone. Spartaque and all that groovier minimal group of subgenres is also minimal. It is also minimal but in a very different sense, it is imo foolish to deny that it is.

To make this very simple here is an example: there is no such thing as purely "minimal" music. Suppose the track you posted above would be considered minimal house. Then tell me, in that case, what is it? Is it house-influenced minimal music or is is minimally-influenced house music? I would think the latter, of course.
What I'm trying to say is that there is no such thing as minimal as a genre. There's "minimal" house, "minimal" techno, etc, but it is house before it is minimal and it is techno before it is minimal. The best way to think of minimal in the context of music, IMO, in as an adjective. You're right, I don't think any of the stuff on Beatport's minimal chart is actually minimal. I think it is house, or techno, or whatever, with a minimal flavor.
And I still don't think that Spartaque track tastes minimal:p

I understand your point my friend and people often bring that up and that I think u can really argue both ways. On one hand technically everthing minimal is like you say something else with minimal flavor prog psy/techno/house/electro etc. But on the other hand in the last few years people just started to use the word minimal without a reference to any other specific genre and I would say minimal has formed as a genre of its own. The genre of all things minimal be it marc houle or spektre or whatever else might be very different in nature but is minimal in some way.

LOL, Adam already said it and I'll say it again minimal is not a genre. It a way of doing things, stripped down to the most basic elements. It exists in art, music, architecture, literature, etc.
