listen to what you like.
all trancers are time travelers, they are basically the john titors of this forum. in their timeline, stem cell research has progressed to the stage where no matter how much blood has escaped your arms from holding them to a tijs/armin set, they simply amputate, sprinkle a little trance growth hormone and they grow back within an hour.

well said, and good topic.
the genre used to be great, the problem is everyone started spinning it. i mean lets face it, its hard to not be influenced when you hear an amazing set by richie hawtin, ricardo villalobos, or luciano. everyone wants to sound like them, everyone wants to make records in that style.
Right everybody is trying to make this. I remember listening to the marco carola question series on vinyl back in the day. Some of this was good. But now I am sick to my stomach of minimal. So much that I stopped going at parties.
Enough of this UK Trying to sound German already.
It used to be you would go to a NY or west cost party and listen to progressive house. You know real house.
Cevin Fisher Danny tenaglia, Peter Rauhofer ect
And there were people there having a great time!
Now its all minimal. Yawn.
It used to be you could go to a techno party and listen to REAL techno! That banging ! That Detroit ! Not anymore. Prepare your self to fall asleep at gonowhere minimal for 3 hours.
And IpLaYWiTLiGhTs you are right. At this point I would take the most tepid paint by numbers big supersaw commercial female vocal trance anthem with a 3 minute breakdown over minimal any day of the week ;) if this would bring the scene back.
Stop fronting.
TranceOwnsLol
I dunno why, but I kinda like 2006 minimal better than 90s minimal. It just has a darker more evil sound for me.

How would you then explain the countless anonymous one or two-time projects that had popped up, released a record and then disappeared forever?

I didn't say that money was the absolute best quality filter just a good one. Today, it's even worse: look at lady gaga.

its important to mention, in the 90's those house djs would play a little bit of minimal in their sets. for example, danny tenaglia opened with a minimal track on his GU010 Athens cd. so minimal was being played in moderation back then.
minimal was great in 05,06, right when it boomed in popularity. it was filled with artists that had not recently changed their sound to minimal. then 07, 08, so many people changed their sound to fit in the scene that it ruined it. this caused lots of people to look elsewhere to find inspiration, and so they find it in the old days. you now see people get minimal boners posting vids of obscure b side 808 tracks with sped up motown samples over them because it resembles the new stuff. thats because the new stuff is modeled after the old stuff. the sad part is people think this is proof music is good right now because its going back to its roots. the truth is they are referencing tracks that were ty even back then (shhh!, dont tell them that! their head might explode like that dave chapelle kkk episode), but because richie hawtin plays a 4th measure men track it suddenly becomes a masterpiece and the price for that vinyl skyrockets on discogs and some aging hipster has it framed on his wall. then, these people dress up like its a fashion show and gather at night clubs and impress each other with their history knowledge of gay black NY garage music while people just tap their toes and fist pump in the air. some of these old minimalistic tracks were minimalistic in nature because of the limitations of hardware, not because the producer wanted them to be that way, and some were made with specific intention of being used as a bridge in a set with melodies. we are spoiled today with all of the tools available to make new beat patterns and sounds, but they get used to simulate 20 year old filler tracks.
