This week @ KILLSWITCH: New Year, New Faces, New Sounds!

Kicking off a new year with your end of the week techno fix, Killswitch starts off 2009 with new faces and new sounds. Newly transplanted from Detroit, Blank Artists producer Vacuum will be throwing down a live set of original tunes, while Portland transplant Brendan Finlayson warms things up with a style described as " boundless, technical and full of emotion". After a raucous 2008 full of cutting edge sounds, Killswitch in 2009 is the perfect way to start off your weekend with killer beats.

About Vacuum:

Let’s be clear — Vacuum is a dirtbag. A dirtbag and a burnout, in fact. Truth be told, the only thing separating Matt Abbott (aka Vacuum) from your run-of-the-mill, drug addled, lowlife, redneck, hoodrat mother****** is that he is the owner of a laptop computer and a stellar record collection. With these two resources, a good ear, and a brain wired for weird, Vacuum turns out quirky, funky, techno and house jams, as well as disco re-edits and the odd yacht rock/coke rock compilations. Matt Abbott’s got more pseudonyms than can be listed here (snaps+handclaps-early retirement-vance hattaway-etc), is part of 2 bag groups (Guys On Drugs, and DEATHSQUAD) and has remained a bright light in Detroit’s on-again, off-again, party scene since the mid 90’s as a DJ, live act, and party promoter. He's played from Berlin to NYC, basements to festivals, and is responisble for the legendary CPM pre partys for the Detroit Electronic Music Festival. Keep Vacuum on drugs and out of the gutter.

Check out Vacuum's "epic" mix, Horse Earth here

About Brendan Finlayson:

Rocking the sounds of house and techno since 1998, Brendan Finlayson's eclectic style, professional mixing and solid track selection make for a strong set. His mixing style has been described as boundless, technical and full of emotion. He was also key as the co-creator of a collective of musicians in Portland, Oregon called Picture of Sound.
