ick.. what a total let down.

guess I'll just have to buy that ticket to Dubai after all.

NYE in SF is usually a total let down, that is why I usually get out of town.
Except last year I was in town, but friggin missed Markus!

Not generally. Past years have been soft on big names for NYE, outside of Markus, its been-Crystal Method, DJ Heather, Bad Boy Bill, etc...

Ruby is packed that night no matter who plays. Why spend the money if they will pack the club anyways?(which sucks for Bay Area people)

At least Ruby comes through the week after NYE. Past years have been fantastic-Digweed, Ferry Corsten, Danny Tenaglia, etc..

Ruby is a small venue compared to how many top DJs there are and other venues around the world who can easily outbid. LA not having a grand NYE events hurts because it's hard to double-book then (DJ plays in LA early then SF later). It being a Saturday night this year makes it harder!

That said, as someone said, they usually go with mid-grade DJs more on those house side. Why? Because fans of those genres tend to be more VIP-ish wannabes. They spend more money, etc.

SF gets lucky (at various venues) every 2-3 years. but every year? not since the early 2000s.

It's a Wednesday. Don't know if there's a promoter behind it or if Ruby is doing the show itself.

Ticets on Sale: Ruby doing it itself...

re: sfedm --- going to be working on it this thanksgiving weekend, mostly fixing bugs now, but hoping to push the redesign live in a few days --> dev.sfedm.com. any comments or feedback appreciated (email rafal at sfedm dot com). as for all the ads on there... i had to step over to the dark side and "sell out" just a bit, but like i said, mainly so that i could pay some people to help update it.

i like it, i don't think anyone will think you are selling out for such small ads, it's not like there's a top bar, two side bars, a bottom bar, and an ad in the middle of the page
