Many many surprises at this year's World Cup. It's nice to see all the South American teams (except Honduras) doing pretty well and all have good chance of qualifying to next round. I'm not suprised with England but France is a total shame http://soccernet.espn.go.com/world-...?cc=5901&ver=us

Is English your first language (I know that sounds condescending....but it's a real question, and if not, I kind of grasp what you're saying more).

No one "negotiates" their way into a foul. You don't get fouls to get attention. Fouls hurt you and there are much better ways of getting the ref's attention

Second, if you constantly act like a bitch to the ref, you're going to get scrutiny. I used to see the same refs game after game. You try to fake penalties in front of the same person week after week - you're ed when a real penalty occurs.

no, spanish is my first language.

sometimes it's important to get fouled during the game, as we both know some times the fouls are over done, but it is up to the ref to call it.

and naturally, i wouldn't expect anyone to constantly act like a bitch to the ref, that's why u have to pick your fights.

all i'm saying is that there's a lot of practical intelligence involved in each game.

there are couple of people on here who are italian and i hope this doesn't offend them. im sick and tired of watching italy. its so predictable. everytime they come on contact with someone they fall. no other country does it as bad. i like watching good clean soccer, but italy just makes it impossible to watch.

Italy, consistently blowing it since 1994

They won the last World Cup, and Inter won the Champions League this year, with other Italians teams winning other years since 1994 lol.. I'm not gunna defend Italian soccer as a whole and say it's the best to watch or the best-played (it's not); that's actually what aggravates international fans. They seem to squeak by with little skill and emotion, but their trophy cabinet is bigger than anyone else's but Brazil. I'd hardly call that "blowing it"...

England and the Netherlands should be categorized as consistently blowing it.. Looks like another year that this holds true..

My whole family is Italian and I root them on when they play, but I have no respect for their style... I am aggravated, and yelling AGAINST them many times during their games.. I can't imagine how non-Italians feel.. They make a complete mockery of the sport when they fall down so easily and put their cry-faces on...

It's hard for us American soccer-lovers to defend the sport as an intense, physical, grueling game (and not the "sissy sport" that many NFL fans call it) when the Italians (and other teams) are clowning around rolling on the floor for 80% of the time... I don't think you're offending anyone, you're telling the truth.

Granted, I think their game today was great. They showed a lot of finesse, a lot of creativity, and were simply shut down by a well-organized Kiwi side... I don't think Italy deserved a win, but the luck they got by receiving the penalty kick is pretty even with the unluckiness they had hitting posts and miracle saves... They earned the draw, which isn't saying much for a defending champion team, but it's a different World Cup than we're used to, and they still have a chance of qualifying..

How much bull was the second goal by Brazil today? Two handballs that weren't called, and a replay showing the referee joking around about it afterward... The officiating during this World Cup is a JOKE.

Look at the ref's face afterward..

I didn't see the whole game, but I saw the second goal was a handball. Thats nuts though, well at least this has come up to FIFA's attention, they're letting some referees go because of some of the calls they're making or not making.

Imagine that goal is ruled out because of 1 of the 2 handballs, as it should have been. The game is 2-0. Then Ivory Coast scored in the late 70th minutes. Psychologically, a 2-1 game with 15 minutes to go was a mountain low enough for them to climb. The pressure they were putting on goal the last 10 minutes, they could have tied it, and we wouldn't be talking about the supremacy of Brazil...

Bull..

OH WOW, thats a shame too because I saw that when Ivory Coast scored they were just pumped and finally started getting really hungry.

Something that came to mind while watching that is that I think Brazil plans on doing handballs. Look at how Ivory coast wears their uniforms , very small fitting/tight, but then if you look at brazils players they were their uniforms very loose/baggy with loose long sleeves so its harder to notice when they play dirty.

lol idk im such a conspiracists.

Still though
