excuse me while i say this, but you're dead wrong. australia is not a bad team. they're #20 in the world, just 4 spaces below uruguay who gave hell to france. the fact that australia had a bad game doesn't make them a bad team. they're indeed a good team, but had a terrible day and none of their strategies were going well. sometimes that happens in sports. not sure how much u know about soccer, and i'm not here to question ur knowledge but it seems you need to learn a bit more about who australia is before you jump to conclusions that sound like you overheard at a bar or something.

how can you question my knowledge while you throw out several bad arguments! LOLOL!

I have watched Australia with my Aussie friends before, and they have rarely impressed anyone to compete well with the top dogs (except you apparently). They are never considered in the final rounds of play!

They didnt have a bad game, they play mediocre quite often, and played even worse against a decent team! (as is increasingly demonstrated by my aussie friends away status's saying such things as "typical" and "wasnt expecting much more, but was hoping for more." One of my Aussie friends predicted a 4-0 score before the game even started. This, coming from huge fans) ;) ;)

If you want to use rankings, how about the fact that they are ranked even lower than Greece, Chile, and a few other teams that dont impress? You want to talk more about the rankings in the opposite manner?:

-Italy (#5) tied Paraguay (#31)
-The USA(#14) tied England (#8)
-And, Japan (#45) beat Cameroon (#19), nearly 25 ranks apart!
-Netherlands (#4) played like total junk against #36 Denmark
-Greece (#13) lost to South Korea (#47)!!!

....shall I go on? Rankings rarely mean anything, rather: the caliber of the team, and who they are playing, and how they match up, is what really counts.

I may not know LOADS about every soccer team out there, because its hard to grasp all the teams congruency and teamwork level, when many of them play apart at different clubs before these big tournaments begin.

Therefore, my point is this: Germany is a good team who played an average team at BEST. Therefore, Germany's flashiness isnt as impressive, then had they played someone more in their caliber. Its easy to do well against someone who is not on your level! I am looking forward to seeing them play in the future rounds. If you have an argument about ANYTHING in the last few sentences, then you obviously have been hanging out with the fairweather fans in the bars too much yourself ;)

and dont even get me started with the France comment...... :disbelief

so you're basing all your arguments on your aussies friends away statuses? i also have aussie friends that seemed to think differently than yours. but i am definitely not basing any of my arguments on that. LOL.

in any case, if read correctly i never denied germany being a good team. they are indeed a good team, even better without ballack, surprinsingly enough, but australia is also a good team. and you are right, rankings don't mean a thing, thats why my team, argentina is #7 in the world and almost didn't make it.

look, my point is that australia is a good team as well as germany. ok, so maybe not as good as germany, but still, it is a good team. like i said, you can't judge an entire team based on ONE game.

actually, australia won 9 of 14 games played on preliminaries, that's 64% of all the games!!!

and i'm not even sure what you mean by 'not getting u started' on the france comment. i think france played like and it is clearly reflected on their gameplay.

so, you dont read correctly, either? I said I watched many of games with them, and I said their comments "further demonstrates" the teams ability, based on the fact that truer fans than I, are reconfirming what I have already seen.

On the topic of misreading: I never said you spoke of Germany as a bad team!! LOL I made my original post that Australia is a mediocre team playing a good team, so of course Germany is going to look impressive! Not the same.

And you base this on their prelims? Did you see who they played? Qatar? Japan? Bahrain? Uzbekistan? LOL...If they win 75% against Brazil, Argentina, England, Holland, and Germany, then you can talk to me. :haha:

fine, but there other fans besides your friends, fyi. :)
Look at nigeria, it's a pretty mediocre team (as i'm sure you'd agree) and argentina was able to beat them only by 1 goal. and don't even get me started on your beloved holland...haha.

who wins 75% of the games against brasil, arg, eng, hol and ger???? you can't say that because a team can't beat the best teams in the world that makes them a mediocre team!!!! you need to understand that! lol.

i seem to not get my point across, what i'm trying to make u understand is that you can't judge a team based on one game. just the fact that a team is in the world cup makes them a good team. also, in the last world cup australia passed to the best of 8, as it has happened in most of their appearances. i mean, you can't say mediocre teams can go this long.

in any case, i see you're pretty stuck to whatever u wanna think so carry on. ;)

I can not believe Portugal ties Ivorie! How cool :) :) I was cheering for Ivorie, but couldnt watch the game.....heard that once Ronaldo hit the cross bar he turned into a little bitch :stongue:

Jplay: I was being sarcastic about playing Enland, Brazil, etc....I was making fun of the fact that you were referencing the Aussies winning 64% of their games against teams that dont mean ;) Yes, making the World Cup makes you a good team in comparison to those who didnt make it, but once they get here, rarely do big teams see them as a huge threat.....that makes you average ;)

PS: You dont need to say anything about Holland, if you had read what I wrote, I had already mentioned that they played like against a mediocre team. Seems as if "medicocre teams" are playing well this WC, which totally defeats the purpose of arguing using the rankings ;)

Not a surprise that he become a bitch, because that's all he does, dive and cry for a foul.

I predicted Brazil and Ivory coast out of this group, and after seeing that game, Portugal prove my point that they are overrated. Only were good because scolari was there manager. Without him they are showing there true caliber.

As for Ronaldo, yeah he is good for club, but in my books he will never be a great player unless he does it for club and country. As today showed it doesn't look like thats going to happen.

Yeah he is a big iconic image of football right now, like beckham was, but at least beckham was good for club and country. Not great for england, but came up with some important moments for england, in some important games.

totally agree with everything you said. :)

I cant stand guys (and teams) who are notorious for taking dives and whining the whole game. People around the world are constantly defending that soccer/futbol is a man's game. But, when people who arent familiar with the game see attitudes and actions like this, it just makes the sport look bad.

Example: I called my father (an american football type of guy) last night, and tried to convince him to watch the cup. He obliged, and watched the Portugal game today......he then left me a message about the crybabies he saw on TV....LOL :haha: :whip:

i mean japan is a pretty tough team if u ask me. i´m not sure how you are judging all these teams. look at what just happened with brasil and north korea!!! i`m sure in your mind north korea is a piece of team like australia, but brasil the best team in the world was only able to score a goal 55 minutes into the game!!!
please, give me a break, all these teams a good teams, none of them are average teams. all the average teams were left behind in the prelims.
holland sucks btw and denmark is not a mediocre team, they have just as much history as holland. i don`t even know why i keep wasting my time with you.
