The play should have been ruled a goal.

In hockey they automatically rule goals for guys who throw their sticks at pucks that are heading towards an empty net. This play was no different than that, except that football's rules are still stuck in the stone age with whiny fans who don't want instant replay and think the game is perfect when in reality it's far from it.

For those who are whining that Ghana should have been awarded a goal when Luis Suarez had a intentional handball in the box, the rules were applied correctly. Suarez was red carded. Ghana was awarded a penalty kick.

Your stupidity never ceases to amaze me. There was a reason I included "under the rules" in my comment. As Vernon said, the rules were applied correctly. It has nothing to do with instant replay, so stop trying to distract. If there was instant replay, you'd have had the EXACT same result.

And a penalty kick SHOULD be a guaranteed goal...and they ed it up. Just like Paraguay did while I was typing. Villa, on the other hand, will not....

Well, that was interesting...Villa doesn't take the kick, Alonso hits it, but it's called back, and the next gets blocked. Also, Spain should have gotten another kick for the foul off the rebound.

do y conceptualize the sequence?, a gol took
place in 1st place; anything thereafter is
inconsequential in the realm of accuracy
and fairness. if y understood such, y would
agree the africans were indeed the victorious
ones, since no extra time would have been
required @ll

I conceptualize the words that are in the rulebook ;)

edit: there is no way anyone will change the rules of the game during the middle of a tournament

fifa put a rule about the yellow to red card thing about a week ago. if a player gets thrown out with 2 yellow cards during the semi-final game, he will still be eligible to play the next game if his team makes it to final. so yea, it is possible to change the rules.

Sorry Lisa I'm rooting for Spain more so wanted this to be an eu cup so I wanted nl to move forward, especially with brazil. Very happy the two sa powerhouses are out, I don't think messi is a stud I think he palys a very solid game but like most sa teams they have a very good ball handler who loves to drive in and score. I have nothing against south America I just think the cup should be all eu.

Germany is a team full of studs, podolski, schiweinsteiger, ozil, klose all play a very good game. Who ever controls the midfield during the Germany Spain match is gonna win it.

I'm calling nl Spain with Spain coming out on top 2-1, torres gets his first to tie and villa with the brace in the 92min
