| USC isn't gonna lose to UCLA, I can tell you that for sure. Any team that gets smoked by Arizona isn't gonna upset the Trojans. I see Texas beating USC though in the championship. Penn St. will be left holding their jocks and their fans whining. |

It's funny that I would've said the same thing about Georgia Tech and Miami. |

If USC and Texas win out then PSU fans have nothing to whine about. |

haha, yeah i texted you about that when you were at the game :p. This morning's washington Post had a great article about it:
| quote: |
Under the cloak of a bitterly cold autumn night, an unknown number of presumably Hokies fans jumped the fence surrounding Scott Stadium sometime early Saturday morning, avoiding the not-so-watchful eyes of security personnel, and then spray-painted a maroon "T" next to the Cavaliers' white "V" logo at midfield.
Virginia officials covered the graffiti with green spray paint before the Cavaliers and Hokies kicked off at noon on Saturday, but maybe they shouldn't have even bothered. The Cavaliers were just as defenseless against Virginia Tech in a humiliating 52-14 loss in front of a sold-out crowd of 63,344, the Cavs' worst home defeat since No. 3 Clemson blasted them 55-0 in the 1984 opener. |
of course there's more of the article but i just wanted to post that. Man I wish there were some UVA fans here on TA
:p |

My point exactly...
Miami had lost once already and I don't think they were in USC or Texas' class. Mostly I just don't have much faith in UCLA... but of course I could be wrong. I have been before. Anyway, I don't like USC. I'm all about my Ducks and being ranked 8th with a 10-1 record. Their only loss to USC.
Feel it, funk it, amps in the trunk it. I'll represent the non-traditional "big schools." |

If you go back to the beginning of this thread you can find my post about USC not deserving the # 1 spot. I said that I believed they would fall to either California or UCLA, because they just weren't playing high-caliber football.
A lot has changed since that post, including a near-upset by Notre Dame. I think USC has been fighting for all of it's wins this season. They usually don't get a kick-start till the 2nd half, and then they blow away with the win.
I think USC shouldn't be ranked in the top 2, Top 10 yes, i think they proved to me that they are deserving of a Top 10 spot, but definitely not 1st or 2nd place. They have been playing mediocre teams that have been giving them a fight (for awhile, at least). |

They haven't lost yet though. Only two teams have that distinction. |

| Yeah but they've come damn near close a couple times.... I guess at the end of the day it doesn't matter how "close" you are but simply who wins and who loses. If I was a USC fan, I wouldn't be having this discussion. Replace USC with Virginia Tech and I would probably be complaining about sloppy playing, but I would say "a win's a win" |

I would put Texas at #1 over USC right now because they seem to be the more dominant team. In fact, the BCS computers have Texas at #1 in every week since week 9 (the BCS standings begin in week 8). The only reason I can see why USC is at #1 is because that is where they began the season, and in most cases higher ranked teams rarely get jumped in the human polls if they keep winning, which is what screwed Auburn last year. |

Well they beat #6 Notre Dame on the road, beat #8 Oregon on the road, and just beat Fresno St which was ranked #16th at the time. Not too mediocre in my mind. And they are undefeated and have won 33 straight games. I don't think they are overrated. |
