but ah guess what the 4 bcs bowls stadiums will not be involved only 3 of em, so 4 woudnt work, theyll have a playoff of 8 teams then, woo!

Go read my earlier post about my suggestion for a playoff and let me know what you think.

Don't forget that the plus 1 game is not a step closer to a playoff, but to get more non-BCS conference schools into a BCS game.

Nice choice.

Is any1 going to the Orange Bowl or any of the bowls for that matter? As a Penn State student, i'll be in Miami to watch Penn State kill Florida State and will be partying in Miami all week long. I'm just curious to see if any other TA's will be down there.

hey gt, i'm a psu student too ~ at university park. i live at nittany crossing... i'm not going to the game, but i wish i could. good luck w your finals.. i have 2 400 level finance finals, 1 400 level accounting final, and a spanish3 final (!)

The reason I say the +1 is a step towards a play-off is because it's alot like a skewed playoff. 1 and 2 will face and if undefeated 3 wins their bowl game, they'll play them too. It's similar to a 1-2 3-4 bracket, but with conditionals.

I think a 16 team playoff is feasible, but an 8 team playoff is where it would all begin. I favor a neutral field system for the quarter finals. However, another option would be to take second tier bowl games:

-Fiesta Bowl
-Capital One Bowl
-Alamo Bowl
-Holiday Bowl

and use them to host the games. Then, the finals would rotate among 3 bowls, with the semis being hosted by the other two:

-Rose Bowl
-Sugar Bowl
-Orange Bowl

The 8 playoff teams would be defined by a BCS like system. As I said earlier, I dont remember the Fiesta Bowl being that big, so I demote it in my system. Really, you just have to drop one of the current BCS bowls, and the quarter finals are interchangable. This system allows the other bowl games to continue to exist. The other bowls could also form another similar tournament, like the basketball NIT.

By adding 4 games to the end of the year, I think you have to eliminate non-conference play or, at most, allow one game of it. This would will make teams think harder about scheduling smaller schools. Another option is to eliminate conferences entirely, but I think Im the only one who supports that idea.

In a little bit more than a week as the first game is in 12 days, I'm thinking about creating a Bowl Predictions thread with every bowl! I know a lot of people dont know much about a lot of the bowl teams, but this is just for fun. What does everyone think?? Yes or no?

On a side note to my fellow Canadians... we get EVERY BOWL GAME this year courtesy of The Score and TSN!!!

I would participate in such a thread as I thought of creating it myself

I'm @ UP too, i live in West. I just got my ticket this morning: Section 102 Row 19 Seat 1. Can't wait 2 go, but unfortunately i have finals to take be4 i go, 5 finals to be exact: Material Science, EMech 215, Diff. Eq., Thermodynamics 2, and Mechanical Vibrations. It's gunna be a fun week next week, but Miami will be worth it. Good luck to you too and every other TA who has to take these horrible things they call finals.

West Virginia Mountaineers over the Georgia Bulldogs. Yes!

Reggie Bush wins by a landslide.

i am still waiting for the day when the Heisman voting ballot system is marred by the "punch hole ballots" where voters could not lineup their pick with the hole they wanted to punch .. then there's chaos, and the system has to change from a manual to electronic system ..

you're saying Carson Palmer is crappy ??

kidding .. hahahaha ...

but past running back winners have made their cases in the nfl (eddie george (hahahaha), ricky williams, barry sanders, tim brown, and so on ...)

where there have been bad apples such as jason white, eric crouch, danny wuerrfel, charlie ward (excluded, because he chose basketball), gino torreta, ty detmer, and andre ware ... ouch .

quick history lesson shall we

1989 Andre ware - usually when people remember heisman winners who turned into crappy pros theyre like hey at least he was an unforgettable college legend, um yeah not many people with great Andre Ware memories unless your in Houston, but still....

1990 Ty Detmer - never had the stuff for the Pros, had his moments, like a 5 int game a few years back.....

1991 Desmond Howard - great kick returned ill give him that ,and was superbowl mvp

1992 Gino Tortetta - lol, sorry, this is when simply being a qb on a talented team would garner you points for the heisman trend was starting.

1993 Charlie Ward - see above, but not as much he was pretty good, but woudve never done good in the NFL

1994 Rashaan Salaam - yet another bust

1995 Eddie George- succesful career

1996 Danny Wuerffel - wow he sure proved he was just part of Spurriers system of a qb at UF

1997 Charles Woodson - had some ok years but really what has he done.

1998 Ricky Williams - great years but u all know his current dillema

1999 Ron Dayne - piece ofgarbage mostly

2000 Chris Weinke  :p

2001 Eric Crouch - LMAO

2002 Carson Palmer - I still think Mcgahee shoudve won it but yea like butters said an actual good one

2003 Jason White - :toothless

2004 Matt Leinart - we'll see
