| not a good day to be a ranked team from the big 10 :p |

Texas played from behind for most of the game, but stayed within 6 to 9 points for the entire time. A Buckeye linebacking core thoroughly throtled Vince Young but he came back time and time again, culminating in a game winning touchdown pass with under four minutes left. The Buckeyes missed a key field goal, a 50 yarder that may have been automatic in times past, which would have made it a two score game, and Young took over from there.
Alot asked if Young could run by the Buckeyes linebackers, but it ended up being Young's arm that saved the game for Texas. Several key completions, as well as a penalty contributed to Texas' winning drive. The Buckeyes inability to punch it in the end zone (three tries, three field goals) certainly played a part in deciding this game. the Buckeye failed time and time to capitalize on excellent field position (They averaged a starting position of their own 38) which gave Texas the ability to stay close. Texas commited three turnovers; the Buckeyes comitted only one, but it was obviously the most costly; With 2:35 left, Justin Zwick fumbled the ball and Texas took over deep in Ohio State territory. Zwick being chosen over Troy Smith to lead the first drive after Texas retook the lead will certainly be a question in Columbus throughout the city; in a recent news paper poll 86% of the respondants said they would start Smith (Tressel went with Zwick).
In the end, the game was all it was billed to be. Ohio State's punnishing defense kept up it's game, but the offense's propensity to stall, a barely missed field goal, and the talent of Vince Young took over this game. Vince Young has certainly made the best case for the heisman trophy thus far.
NOTES
This game wraps up a terrible day for the Big Ten; Three teams ranked in the Top Ten lost today (Michigan, Ohio State, Iowa).
Vince Young ran for over 50 yards on the first series. He was held to under 25 for the rest of the game.
Buckeye lineback A.J. Hawk had over 10 tackles, 2 sacks, an interception, and a fumble recovery. |

Big Ten did a Pac-10/Big 12 move by losing all those big games(pardon the Texas result but the big 12 sucks normally in big ones)
Was real pissed at the result tonite. Cant belive all those turnovers. Nevertheless it was a great game to watch considering I only like Ohio St. they aren't my "team" though |

big win for notre dame as they moved into the top 10. it was a little shaky down the stretch but they hung on for the upset on the road. michigan st. at home will probably be a good game.
as far as this weeks games go theres a couple good ones. tennessee vs florida will be a great one. urban meyer will be tested in this one. personally, im rooting for tenn because i want notre dame to knock them off later in the year. id like to see clemson knock off miami and if miami plays like they did last game it will happen. fsu vs boston college will be a good game. also, fresno could easily get upset against the oregon ducks. |

after the noles stole the championship from ND in '93 they've risen up my list of most hated teams in sports. how you win the national title while losing to the team ranked second baffles me. |
