| quote: | | OTTAWA (Reuters) – Obese people have the right to two seats for the price of one on flights within Canada, the Supreme Court of Canada ruled on Thursday. The high court declined to hear an appeal by Canadian airlines of a decision by the Canadian Transportation Agency that people who are "functionally disabled by obesity" deserve to have two seats for one fare. The airlines had lost an appeal at the Federal Court of Appeal in May and had sought to launch a fresh appeal at the Supreme Court. The court's decision not to hear a new appeal means the one-person-one-fare policy stands. The appeal had been launched by Air Canada, Air Canada Jazz and WestJet. |

| If you can't fit into 1 seat , as you are ONE person, then you shouldn't be flying. If you feel the need to have to take two seats, then you should be paying for 2 seats. |

| For those who still don't believe our judicial system is overrun with liberals, there's your proof. Exactly what law are they upholding, and/or what constitutional right are they protecting here? |

My thoughts exactly.....it's not fair we have to pay for having more than one bag yet people who can't fit into one seat get another for free?
Expect ticket prices to go up folks. This will have to be paid for somehow. |

| Tax them. If they're going to only pay for one seat, tax them the cost of the second seat. I fly a lot and I'm not going to pay extra because someone is taking up two seats, sorry. |

| If they are too fat to fit in the seat, they should have to ride in the cargo area and be strapped down. |

This is an interesting topic as not all obese people choose to be fat. Genetics play a major role as well as body type. There are 3 main types of a human body. Everyone is not classified into one of these 3, people are in between, so here they are.
Ectomorph - These types of bodies are lean, long arms, long legs, and small built. Burn fat easily and have trouble gaining weight.
Mesomorph - These are a good built, broad shoulders, not too much fat. Are in between ectomorph and endomorph. Can built muscle really easily.
Endomorph - Wide waistlines and round faces. Have a lot of fat built into them and have a hard time losing weight and keeping the fat off.
Now some people are obese by nature and depending on their genetics, no matter how much they workout and how much cardio they do, they can't shed the fat to look skinny. So the people who are born this way IMO should not have to pay for 2 tickets because of their genetics, it's simply not fair. Companies should cater to all types of customers in some way. Now building a system where only obese people who became that way by being lazy, depressed, obsessed with food, etc should pay for 2 airline tickets as opposed to the large folks that are born that way would be impossible to determine for every individual and cost way too much for the airline to do. It's a hard subject and both sides have good arguments. |

My thoughts...
thin down piggy & put down the ing cake!!!!
Too fat to fit in a seat? Perhaps you're too fat live.....
the life of air travel
Seriously though, not impressed. I know some people truly can't help it b/c of genetics, but what's next...2 rooms at a hospital when others are in need?
Just exptrapolating to the extreme end of things here. |

You can't be serious. Anybody can lose weight. You can't possibly mean that a person who works out like crazy and burns more calories than they take in won't lose weight if they're genetically predisposed to such a body type. |
