thanks :)
I never claimed to be any sort of "olympic athelete." I dont need to prove myself to failsafe or anyone, I know what I am doing and know what I have done. Unfortuately, I did lose weight QUICKLY when I was starving myself half to death, and working myself half to death.....but we all know that the body stores fat when you are starving yourself, which is probably why I plateaud after half a year and ended up with huge stomach problems because of the diets pills and eating habits. NOT a good idea.
Orko: If you have a solution, please fill me in. I work out 4 days a week, do weight training, do cardio, walk every where (I live in NYC with no car, so on top of my regular workouts, I do a huge amount of walking and carrying groceries/etc....) I exercise portion control, have a great diet (my coworkers tease me about my eating because they all eat horribly), I drink green tea everynight, take multi vitamins, eat a decent amount of fiber and protein, and take bvitamin coomplex and iodine supplements for my hypothyroidism. And my workout intensity is FINE. I do intervals during cardio and have worked with different trainers. I read UP on this stuff to see where I can improve. I am not an unintelligent person and understand the body just fine and how it works. People can talk all they want about their OWN situations but this is MINE. If I was lying, I wouldnt be in this damn thread, and I would be quietly observing all you people talk, while sitting at the computer with ice cream in my hand.

lol next time you see me ask me to make a muscle and then maybe you will believe (at the very least) that I am working out consistently. :haha: ha! |

I find it laughable that people are still debating the nature vs nurture theory as it relates to obesity......it's a known fact that obesity is a HUGE issue in North America..and the number one cause of it is that North Americans overeat....they consume processed foods filled with fat...
I'm sure there are people that are obese due to medical reasons but I am also sure that the percentage is severely lower than what people are trying to portray in this thread...out of 10 fat people, I am willing to bet that 9 are fat cuz they eat too damn much and don't exercise...
It just bothers me that people are trying to say that being fat is some sort of disability...it's freakin ridiculous.....and I think an insult to people who suffer from real disabilities and don't have the power to change their situation...obese people always have a choice...it is scientifically impossible to stay fat if you are eating healthy and exercising... |

For cardiovascular strength, yes. For fat burning, no.
In any event, isn't it just calories in/out? |
um a 20 minute interval session of running one minute and briskly walking one minute is a lot more beneficial for losing fat than 30 minutes of just walking or running by themselves. |

If you have a pool nearby you can try swimming. Even just 30 minutes a few times a week has helped me tone out a lot! I'm such a huge advocate of swimming for exercise because you aren't putting a strain on the muscles, joints, bones like running on a treadmill does.

You start off correctly, then end up in the sewer at the end.
There are plenty of nutrient rich foods which will more than satisfy your daily requirements. If you stuck to the more nutrient dense foods it's fairly easy to reduce portion size while remaining healthy. If you're worried that you've cut back to the point where you're unable to consume the nutrients that your body needs, there's about a million multi vitamins on the market now. |
i was talking about people who are more susceptible to carrying extra weight which i actually believe is a small portion of the population at large. portion control works for the vast majority of the people i can't deny that. in fact i lost a good chunk of weight after college by simply limiting my intake and eliminating certain foods from my diet. also, i don't believe you should ever get to the point when you aren't eating/drinking the nutrients you need and have to heavily depend on multivitamins. |

| I went shopping at the dirt mall last night (for comics) and I couldn't help but notice that 80% of the people in there were overweight...kids especially! Then I thought about how rare it was when I was a kid to see that many overweight people - anywhere. When I was in elementary school, there was one, maybe TWO fat kids...and every knew not to make fun because everyone knew that it wasn't normal to be so overweight. I still remember their names. :o |
