I'm not sure which I prefer. I like that the Captivate has all four of the standard Android buttons along the bottom of it though - Home, Back, Menu, Search.

Seems that way. It's just awkward to take pics with without using both hands to hold the phone. Also no flash is boourns. They put a flash on their Omnia, why couldn't they put on on the Galaxy?? Thing is, Samsung's phone cameras are actually really awesome in terms of the picture quality...so why not add a flash? Oh well. |
Ya, the no flash is my only big complaint/issue w/ the new Galaxy S phones... seriously, no flash Samsung?! WTF...
Why would you leave a flash out anyways? Whats the logic? (Honestly curious...) W/o knowing more, seems like a fairly big deficiency if you ask me.

Assuming having push-to-talk is the ONLY reason anyone would ever buy that device, lol. |

Hah, that's exactly what I dislike about it. Well, along with the case shape/design. |

Dell CEO flashes Android tablet computer
Wed Sep 22, 8:36 PM
By The Associated Press
SAN FRANCISCO - Dell is working on a seven-inch tablet that runs Google's Inc.'s Android operating software.
Not much else is publicly known about the computer. Dell Inc. CEO Michael Dell flashed it briefly Wednesday at Oracle's annual conference in San Francisco, but offered no hard details. Dell Inc. spokesman Matthew Parretta declined to say when the prototype would go on sale.
Dell is just one of many consumer electronics companies scrambling to crack the computer industry's most compelling new niche. Apple Inc.'s iPad proved consumers are interested and willing to pay — the company sold 3.3 million in the first quarter iPads were available. Some analysts say iPads have already started eating away at laptop sales.
Just as Apple's iPhone set the bar for the smart phone industry, the iPad is now the reference point for future tablets, making it harder for companies with a different vision to compete.
Dell's first move in the modern tablet space was a much smaller gadget called the Streak, which went on sale in August. It has a five-inch screen and runs a version of Android; it can also make phone calls on AT&T's network.
The Streak got a chilly reception, with critics saying the device was too awkward to use as a giant phone and too small to use as a computer. The response highlights another of the industry's biggest challenges: resolving the identity crises that crop up when devices try to do too many things at once. |

Damn that Desire HD not having 4G. But it's going to be hard for me to dive into anymore than a one year contract with how fast new phones are coming out, so that may not matter.
Does the Desire HD have the mini HDMI out port like the EVO4?
HTC ftw. |

Can't wait for HUP to Captivate. |

Samsung Galaxy Tab hitting Italy in October, Australia in November
The second most wanted tablet in the world (after the iPad) is heading to shores of Italy and Australia. Italians will be able to grab the Samsung Galaxy Tab at some point in October from virtually all operators in the country. From what we’ve heard, carriers will bundle device with a data plan and offer it for as little as 29 EUR per month. At that price, the Korean company expects to move 100,000 Tab units by the end of this year.
As for Australia, no carrier partners have been confirmed at this point. Sydney Morning Herald says the Tab will eventually be available through all carriers in the country when users will be able to grab it at a subsidized price on a contract. In the meantime, we’ve also heard the contract-free price and it’s AU$999 – which is whopping US$952.
And that’s about all we have for you at this point. As soon as we hear some other international deal for Samsung Tab has been struck, we’ll let you know… |

HeyWire is the first and currently only multi-platform texting and chat service that delivers free international messaging with a real phone number.
Not only does HeyWire give you a real number, the service also enables users to text eachother worldwide, anywhere, and even supports all major languages, thus allowing people to communicate in their native language.
The App is available in the Apple App Store and the Web PC/Mac Beta versions can be found at HeyWire.com. HeyWire will soon be available for Android, GoogleTV, gaming devices and e-Readers in 2011.

Sounds a lot like Google Voice (though obvi without the voice aspect).
Damn, but dont I wish we had Google Voice up here already! as they do down in the US.
It gives you a new number you use (free), and with that done, you can text and call long-distance to your heart's content, no charges!
My US friends with iPhones and Android phones use Google Voice to text (since Canada texts arent covered in their plans) and call me for free. It's great.
Want this in Canada. Google Voice is incredible. No more worrying abt $$ for LD plans (great for me since i dont live in Toronto yet almost all my friends do!) |

I didnt realise that Samsung is going to be releasing (unless somethings changed since June) 3 different sizes of the Galaxy Tab... 7", 8" and 10"! Hopefully this shall apply to NA/Canada too.

Samsung S-Pad tablet expands to become three sizes of Galaxy Tab
9:33 AM, Jun 7th, 2010 0 Comments
Samsung is going stellar with their tablets. The previous S-Pad tablet has now changed names to the Samsung Galaxy Tab — a tablet that won’t come in just one, but three different sizes (would you like to supersize your Galaxy to a Universe?).
Last week a picture of the new Galaxy Tab was posted on Twitter by the South African arm of Samsung (@SamsungBlogSA). It showed the 7-inch tablet sitting next to the Galaxy S smartphone for reference. At the time, we only had a few items of information on the Galaxy Tab, namely that it would be a “super AMOLED,” has a “high definition screen” and that it would run the Android TouchWiz UI overlay. The Galaxy Tab is set for an August release, but wait, there’s more!
Samsung will be releasing three sizes of the Galaxy Tab. The previously mention 7-inch in August followed by an 8-inch in November and a 10-inch tablet in December. Plus, the Galaxy Tab may come with a cellular modem that will effectively turn this into a mobile tablet.
We’re not sure how that coincides with the previous rumors of the Galaxy Tab posted in May. Samsung stated that the tablet would focus on eBook reader functions and come with an eBook marketplace like the Kindle Store. They also have talked about creating a tablet that’s a “primary device in terms of processing power and IO.” Is the Galaxy Tab it? It doesn’t really appear so, but we’ll find out shortly as August is just around the corner.

A 10" Samsung Galaxy Tab with wifi would just be incredible, all I want. :D |

Google Talk on our phones = kinda like BBM for Androids. :D
A poor man's version for now, but with time and more ppl using it on their android phones, i could see it vastly improving and becoming one day to android users like what BBM is now to blackberry users. |
