It's hard to believe that what we're looking at is real -- but we assure you, the picture above is in fact the PlayStation Phone you've long been waiting for. As we reported back in August, the device you see is headed into the market soon, likely boasting Android 3.0 (aka Gingerbread), along with a custom Sony Marketplace which will allow you to purchase and download games designed for the new platform. The device snapped up top (and in our gallery below) is sporting a 1GHz Qualcomm MSM8655 (a chip similar to the one found in the G2, but 200MHz faster), 512MB of RAM, 1GB of ROM, and the screen is in the range of 3.7 to 4.1 inches. Looking almost identical to the mockup we hit you with this summer, the handset does indeed have a long touchpad in the center which is apparently multitouch, and you can see in the photos that it's still bearing those familiar PlayStation shoulder buttons. For Sony buffs, you'll be interested to know that there's no Memory Stick slot here, but there is support for microSD cards.
The particular model in these shots is still in prototyping mode. As such, the unit doesn't have a custom skin (not even SE's Timescape design seen on the Xperia devices), and is said to be rather buggy. We're digging into more facts as we speak, but it's likely that much of what we reported earlier is still accurate, and though the device could still be headed for a 2010 release, 2011 is looking much more realistic. Still, there's a lot of time between now and the holidays... so keep your fingers crossed!

Motorola's BlackBerry? The freshly-announced Moto Droid Pro's keyboard feels like it, to be sure, and after trying it out, we believed the Motorola rep who told us they tested comparable speeds of 37WPM in several focus groups. But that's definitely Android under the hood, paired with a nice, responsive capacitive touchscreen and a 1GHz processor that sped through the UI. Check it out in our gallery below while we go find out more!
Update: We just had a nice long chat with a Motorola representative, and found out what's under the Droid Pro's hood -- it's a 1GHz OMAP 3620, to be precise, with an MDM6600 chipset, 512MB of RAM, 2GB of onboard storage ROM and 8GB internal storage, plus 802.11n 2.4GHz WIFI, Bluetooth 2.1 and tri-band UMTS. There's a dual LED flash alongside that auto-focus camera, and a programmable key on the side that asks you what you want it to do the first time you press it. There's 3G mobile hotspot support for up to five devices, and an optional 1860mAh extended battery and case, plus a desktop charger dock like those for the Droid and Droid 2 but that holds the handset vertically. It also just so happens that the Droid Pro has the push functionality of Blur even though it isn't weighed down by the full Blur UI, and supports SD card remote wipes (and full device encryption in Q1 2011), has spellcheck integrated into the OS and a "multi-headed" VPN client. Had enough yet? We've got a series of screenshots below pulled directly from the device.
Update 2: Video of the Droid Pro and Motorola Citrus after the break!
Update 3: According to Motorola's Developer page (at the link below) the Droid Pro's also got PowerVR SGX 530 graphics inside, just like the Droid 2, among other devices.
Nice phone. Thing is... its Motorola. Those phone puts out a ton of radiation.

I have a Droid 2. LOVE IT. Physical Keyboard is amazing, one handed on-screen keyboard is useful. You won't like this phone if you have large hands though. Also its my main GPS. Oh yeah its also rooted, I'm waiting for a decent ROM to be released for this phone.
I got Tunewiki installed, and connect it to my stereo audio bluetooth receiver in my car which outputs the music to FM, so I can listen to Di.fm or anything on shoutcast while driving on my car stereos.
Any other must have apps for trance listeners?

I've been too embarrased to even enter this thread because the android version on my x10 was so old. Now I am only 8 months behind and finally have 2.1!
you sony!

Sucks that the Nexus S will launch on T-Mobile/Videotron and probably 1-2 months later it will be able to run AT&T/Rogers.

If i decide to replace my Milestone early (really prolly due to internal space limitations!! :whip: :whip: ),
then this will likely be the *only* phone I would do it for...
I want a PURE "GOOGLE" phone, where google is directly incharge of pushing down the updates!
you to the phone makers and carriers that make us waits MONTHS to receive new versions of Android OS! By the time I get Froyo in January, Gingerbread will already be out! Thats nuts. Fragmentation is becoming a real problem.
Nexus One gets updated OTA very quickly once Google officially releases the next update.
The Nexus will be the same sitch. :D
I just want to know how closely (probably exactly) it resembles the other Galaxy S phones out there. My biggest wondering is if it'll have a flash or not for its camera, and whether it'll have 2GB, 8GB or 16GB internal memory? By the gods, hope its 16.

Speaking of the Galaxy S phones... think its stupid how they differ between us here in Canada and down in the US?
eg. Our Galaxy S Vibrant differs from the US one in looks (one of them is the European one, the other isnt)
And then there's the Fascinate (offered thru Telus). Up here it was no flash and 16GB internal memory.
Down in the US has a flash for its camera, but only 2GB of internal memory.
I believe all other specs, including appearance, are exactly the same for the phones in Canada and the US.
Confusing. Dont know why Samsung did that with these phones in North america.

Finally offline support!
Sucks that the Nexus S doesn't have Swype pre-installed :(

The Nexus S is out now. Hopefully in the new year Samsung/Google refresh it with the dual-core processor. Still waiting.
I hope Android 2.3 is out today, seeing Google Maps 5 has been released.

HOLY ANDROID LOVE we're seeing now!!! <3
Between the new phones and tablets officially unveiled at CES and now all the further devices being revealed at MWC, its bloody ANDROID HEAVEN out there the the moment...
Now if only Canada sees most or even some of all these new devices announced hit our northern shores... hate knowing that insane android is coming out, but that we may not seeing it in a timely fashion in North America if you're not state-side! Boo. Hiss.

I got 2.3.3 running on my N1 :D Also BBM might be coming to Android devices at a price.
Next phone might be the... Samsung Galaxy SII (the display sucks though) :(
I just can't wait to get the Samsung Galaxy Tab II, I just have no idea when the hell thats coming out.
