I love my HTC Android, and have used the Samsung Android, and their UI is vomit in comparison. |
Who uses the OEM ui anyway? There are so many awesome ROMs out there. |

Well with the white being recently released you have the benefit of it being new to the market, more rare than the black. Quick search looks like people are asking $600 for the 16gb ($159 on contract) brand new in box and $700 ($269) for the 32gb. I'd post an ad for both and whichever one gets you the most profitable sale go with that and meet the buyer at the fido store to hand it off brand new. Also research the Gevey SIM I think it's $30-40 and lets you unlock it without jailbreaking. Most buyers will be too dum dum to do the jailbreaking stuff and the Gevey lets you avoid that so it will work on other carriers.

So you think the Galaxy S2 will be less than the iphone 4? The only problem is that Fido has ppl on ing call list STILL for the iPhone 4 but apparently I can go to an Apple store with my Fido contract and get the phone there. Why is there still such a problem getting this phone? I hope ppl wake up and realize the Galaxy S2 is more insane. I haven't used it but it still looks crazier. |

You'll probly need another couple hundred in cash for the S2. Ya Fido has some shortcomings but and imo Rogers intentionally created them so you're pressured to switch to their service and fork over more $$ on your monthly bills. |

| Just bought a Nexus S. Worth it to have the newest firmware right away. Super AMOLED screens are amazing. |

Google Nexus 4G (3rd gen.)
| quote: | Google is two devices deep in a quest to deliver its vision of what a mobile device should be, while pushing the envelope forward as far as specifications and collaboration is concerned. BGR has exclusively learned that Google’s next Nexus device, possibly called the Nexus 4G, is going to be an absolute beast. We have been told that the Google Nexus 4G will feature a next-generation dual-core 1.2GHz or 1.5GHz CPU, and contrary to reports about it featuring an NVIDIA Kal-El processor, our source indicates it’s most likely an OMAP 4460 or a, ultra low-power 28nm Krait-based Snapdragon. The display is said to be a 720p HD “monster-sized” screen, and it won’t feature physical Android menu buttons below the screen anymore — everything will be software-based. More after the break.
Additionally, we can expect a 4G LTE radio, 1GB of RAM, 1080p HD video capture and playback, a 1-megapixel front-facing camera, and a 5-megapixel rear camera. The 5-megapixel camera, however, is said to be an advanced 5-megapixel sensor delivering class-leading image quality in addition to superior low-light performance. The Google Nexus 4G will run Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) and hold everything together in an ultra-thin package. We were told that Google is aiming to make the phone available around Thanksgiving, and our source couldn’t confirm a carrier, leading us to believe this might be one of the first AT&T 4G LTE smartphones. It’s also possible that this device will just be the flagship/reference Ice Cream Sandwich device — just like the Motorola DROID and Motorola XOOM were for Android 2.0 and Android 3.0, respectively — and not a Google Nexus-branded product, so we’ll have to wait and see. In either case, this sounds like an incredible phone regardless of what label is under the dress. |

If they go with OMAP, I hope they use OMAP 5432 and not the 4460. The OMAP 5432 is a multicore that can max out at 2 Ghz and is 28 nm. The Krait-based Snapdragon sounds interesting also. I just hope they use something thats advanced enough that it wont be eclipsed for at least 6 months.
If it is LTE, at least people in Ottawa, Montreal and Toronto will be able to use the phone this year with Rogers. Bell and Telus are planning to have LTE by 2012. I am not sure about WIND or Mobilicity or Videotron. Luckily many mobile providers are switching to LTE and it is at 700 MHz. So when we are in the states we can roam on AT&T-TMobile (if the merger does happen), Verizon and probably also Sprint :) |

Fido phones are . Your best bet if you don't want to join the Apple bandwagon is to use all your fido dollars + sign the contract and get the latest iPhone (only fido phone worth something) on the cheap. Sell it brand new unused and use the cashola to go buy your Android or BB... |
Thats exactly what im doing in september when the iphone 5 comes out.
I dont care how upgraded the iphone 5 is, im not going to keep it, i ing hate its miserably ugly interface; a grid of ugly as icons as a home screen!? LOL
I'll be buying the HTC Desire S with the money I make off the iPhone, and STILL have cash leftover. |

| Just picked up my Nexus S from Rogers with the early HUP. Havent even opened it yet haha been so busy. I was contemplating between this or the sony xperia pro or the sgs 2, but i guess i made a good choice. Better rom support, faster updates, and just all around good experience. :) |

I realize I ain't from TO but this seems to be the only active Android thread on TA.
So I'm looking to replace my 5+ years old Palm treo 650 phone which I love to bits.
I take loads of notes all day long and it's served me super well but the thing is starting to die, screws coming out etc.
Here's the catch I'd love having an actual keyboard but appart from Blackberry there doesn't seem to be anything decent. I'd like to get a blackberry but the app development is so poor.
Android in my mind is somewhat on par with IOS regarding app development, at least the "must have" apps for me are now on Android so I don't feel so bad about going that route.
Android has no physical keyboard phones :conf: (I'd prefer avoid crazy big sliders)
standard Android phones may be the best bet...
I can get Samsung Galaxy S2 for around 200 bucks. Yes/no/maybe should get something else?
what are other good current phones?
I'm completely clueless about android phones and don't know much of anything apart from HTC.
Important things for me:
-GOOD battery life(no so much regarding crazy amounts of usage, but more for idle use)
-easy to customize(but that's pretty much a non issue I think)
-not a freaking huge thing bigger than a scientific calculator :wtf:
-good screen tactile response, still hiffy about typing on a screen.. still not totally happy about typing on an ipad.
it goes without saying I want something that works well, good quality screen. Don't need crazy megapixels camera but it's always a big plus for me.
keep in mind I'm on the other side of the puddle so prices won't be the same as you all.
Any suggestions :conf:
Thanks TOTAs |

Only way you can get like a Galaxy S2 for $200 if you pay someone to steal one lol
If your looking for a basic all you can do android phone and not worried about gaming go with the Nexus S, at least you don't have to worry about HTC or Samsung UI and with the Nexus S you get updates before anyone else. |
