But, I'm relatively sure BB10 solves all of that. Any Android app can be repackaged for BB10 in about 30 mins, so the devs are all over it, no more not having access to awesome apps that Android has. And BB10 will have a physical keyboard model....apparently at launch...

I've wanted to just ship and get an S3 for months now, but I'm going to hold out another couple months. If it isn't up to par then, I'm gone.

don't think so. first come, first serve.

since you're close to detroit, you can go to tmobile and buy it from them outright i think.

get the 16gb since it is only $50 more. i have a 16gb GNEX and after d/ling apps, photos, a few sets of music and a 30min show, i have about 5.5gb left usually. if you get the 8gb version, you'll be cutting it close with the amount of storage left over. and since there are no micro sd slots, you'll be screwed.

i have a 2gb plan and i cut it close every single month. my biggest hogs for data are plume(twitter app), instagram, facebook, foursquare, maps, gmail. if you're going to have a plan with low data, i recommend using Opera Mini for browsing. it compresses everything and really helps out with your data usage.

hope that answers some of your questions.

Being able to repackage an app is nice, but there are other things to consider, like support.

Android is quite fragmented already, which is a big and reasonable complaint about the ecosystem. Devs complain about having to do a lot of support due to the multitude of devices, OS versions, and different configurations. Adding in another OS (non-native), and more devices to develop for might not be as attractive as you think.

With the slow adoption of Windows Phone OS, I'd be surprised if BB10 took off at all.

Google activates more than 1 million new devices A DAY. That pace of adoption is going to hard to fight.

I don't think Blackberry really needs to fight Google to be successful. Theirs room for another ecosystem in the market. RIM will never sell more devices then Android does, or even Apple, but that doesn't mean they can't be successful. It's entirely feasible to be a smaller/niche ecosystem but still turn a significant profit and be successful. They have around 85 million users as is, and continue to add ~1 million each quarter, even with the outdated devices and OS they're pushing now. I don't think every Android dev will, or even should, port all their apps to Blackberry 10, but for the bigger guys like Instagran (facebook)/Skype/etc, it makes it relatively simple. Like you said, they're already dealing with such fragmentation with Android, what's one more packaged version, if it gives you instant access to millions of potential customers.

If you have an NFC enabled device, check out this app: http://launcher.tagstand.com/

I checked out the page the description on that but I'm a little confused. This app seems to do the same thing that Llama Location Profiles and Tasker have been doing for years now, except the events are triggered strictly by an NFC tag. Unless I'm missing something :conf: this seems like a pretty redundant app with those other 2 already on the market.

Sorry?

Now, when will they be back in stock? Is Google Play the only place to get it? Should I go 8GB or 16GB considering it's only a $50 difference, or go 8GB and just use memory cards?

Go 16GB... no SD card slots on Nexus devices.

Also, random... I need a cheap Android tablet for my lil cousin's for their Xmas gift. The OS doesn't need to be top of the line or most up to date, but functional for their use (8 years old and 7 years old). Also something that is reasonably durable.

Go Nexus 7 16GB... $209.

Note:

T-Mobile outright price: $499 USD

Google Play Store price: $359.00 CAD

If you're buying outright, you're playing a lot more unless you order from Google Play Store (which unfortunately you'll have to wait to have the pleasure to do)

Pretty sure I'm getting my mom the Nexus 7 for Xmas this year :D

yea that's why I kept away from the Nexus line. The storage is an insulting. Did you consider going with an S3? I have 16GB onboard and a 32GB microsd card in mine. Once the 64GB cards drop in price I'm going with those.
