3.38 vs 3.05 ERA is not really a noticeable difference.
mariano 3 losses. wagner 0.
mariano's given up more hits than wagner.
wagner's walked more and hit more batters, but has also struck out twice as many as mariano.
blah blah blah |

| Its better off for the teams that the closers get all the kinks out at the beginning of the season, so when the team needs them the most to close out games and win some important games, they will be there. |

Spring training is a joke, its more for the people from the minors to try to pick up a spot on the team. The starters cant get any kinks out when they are playing against newbies. |

First of all, how could spring training be a joke if people from the minors are fighting for a position on the team which means a better life for them? I'm sure they're laughing all the way to the bank if they don't get a roster position.
Spring training isn't just primarily for letting the spring roster invitees fight for remaining roster spots, but also serves to help the starters work their way back to game shape. If spring training was more for filling out roster sports, they may as well just have audition camps instead of a month of preseason ball and not waste the time for all the regulars.

They'll sure as hell know what they get to work on when the newbies hungry for a roster spot expose their weakness. |

or with bases loaded, 2 out, game tied, whiffs on high cheese or pulls an off speed pitch weakly to the left side of the infield |
