I love the Red Sox bullpen

Who has the better record, the Mets playing in the weak NL or the Yankees playing in the rugged AL?

tonight is Piazza's return to Shea
also Mike Cameron's first time playing there since the collision last year

Those people that are in the fantasy baseball thing with me, know that Ive been sucking Liriano off all season, even when he was still in the bullpen.

For a rookie, he is putting up super-human numbers.

Papelbon is good too, but when Gagne won the Cy Young, his ERA was higher (1.20), but he had 137K's in 82.1 IP, and he had 55 Saves.

If Papelbon can get to 50, than he might have a shot, but until than... unless Liriano just magically looses the arm, I think Liriano is the front runner for the Cy and RotY. If there was ever a time where the 2 awards could be shared, this would be it. Lets wait until the season is over to see how these guys finish off the year.

As for the NL, I think Brandon Webb has it locked up as long as he can stay consistent and finish off the season well. Zambrano has been very good too, but Webb has pitched more innings with a 2.74 ERA and 1.14 WHIP.

As for NL RotY, I think Dan Uggla will win it, hes my front runner, but a very very close second is Hanley Ramirez.

cya on the DL francisco...

He just needs to rest the arm. Hes being over used. Hes young, and he started out in the bullpen and now hes doing full time duties... sometimes pitching 8 innings a game. He will take the week off, rest his arm, and he will be back throwing fire!

It's not a coincidence that Verlander and Liriano both are having sore tired arms and need to be rested. Young pitchers haven't trained their arms for the entire course of the season. Verlander has already thrown more innings then he ever has in his lifetime. It's a definite concern of any young pitcher. He could very well be fine but there has to be some worry there.
Vlad
The only difference is that Liriano went from the bullpen to starting, Verlander has been starting all season. But they arent ready to pitch 200 innings yet. You need to get 1 or 2 seasons under your belt until your arm gets used to it, like Webb for example... the guy has a rubber arm now, but when he started he pitched 180, than 200, now 230 innings... but even he gets tired... like right now his arm is getting a bit worn out from pitching 167 innings. I think all of these pitchers that are leading in innings pitched are gonna be given the week off soon so that they could rest before the seasons close and the playoffs.

Like every year, the Red Sox get the AL East lead, then give it up
Varitek going on the DL for knee surgery surely won't help them

Just incase you guys didnt pick up on this... the Red Sox picked up Javy Lopez off of the waivers.

Dang, Red Sox got swept by the Royals
With Schilling and Beckett pitching no less

They've also had much trouble with the Devil Rays
Seems like they're having the same fortunes as the Yanks had last year
Maybe they can come back and take the AL East like the Yanks did, but it doesn't look likely to me

Bring out the brooms the Sox are dead!!!

10 extra base hits given up by Schilling wow..

Yanks are the best team in baseball right now
