| I'd actually be tempted to bat Abreu 2nd and Jeter 3rd. Also, it's nice to mix lefties and righties, though not a requirement. And, Giambi's slg% negates his batting average. 5th spot for Rodriguez keeps pressure a little lower. I think that's the illest lineup out. |

I don't see why moving Jetes would have any affect on his hitting. Either pitch to Abreu in the 2 slot or Jetes in the 3 hole. Either way a pitcher will have to pitch to one of them if they decide to go around the other.
Dropping Rod to the 5 hole should relieve ALOT of pressure along with increasing his chance to knock in runs and bump up his slg%, you'll have a solid top half of the order, 6 if you put Melky up and drop Posadas bat, but I wouldn't I kind of like Melky down in the 8-9 hole.
My pinstripe lineup
Damon CF
Abreu RF
Jetes SS
Giambi 1B
A-Rod 3B
Bernie DH
Posada C
Melky RF
Cairo 2B |

There's no player I hate more in MLB than Miguel Cairo.
#1) He sucks, yet analysts and whoever give the impression that he's "scrappy." No... he sucks.
#2) He runs like an idiot. It's like... he doesn't move a part of his body. I can't put my finger on what part it is... maybe his upper body? But he looks like a moron.
#3) After going back to the Yankees this year, he was asked a question about the Mets last year and he replied, "I liked those guys. They were a great group. But, to be honest, I cared more about what the Yankees were doing." AGGHHHH! He cared more about what another team in another LEAGUE was doing than to his own team. |

| quote: | The Yankees have Bobby Abreu batting fifth tonight in his debut for the club.
The top four of Johnny Damon, Derek Jeter, Jason Giambi and Alex Rodriguez remains unchanged. As well as both Damon and Abreu hit left-handers, a case could be made for batting those two at the top of the order and putting Jeter in the third spot. Still, there's really no way Joe Torre can go wrong as long as all five players are in the lineup every night. |
I was right. |
