Blood has to be shed to acheive peace. Sometimes dictators dont want the easy way out and they get what they deserve. I mean lets look and the American Independence war, WWI&II etc. Yes, war was the only option, but tell me was it worth it? Ofcourse!
An invasion of Iran would highly benefit Iranians and the Middle East region. Heck, If we invade Iran Ill be the first to sign up for this humanaterian cause. Trust me, I wont be like Krypton cowarding away. |

i'm not arguing whether waging war with iran would be a good thing, however, a war is most certainly NOT a humanitarian effort. Just because something benefits certain humans does not mean it is a humanitarian cause. Wiping out 1/2 of the world population would probably benefit the remaining 1/2 of humans in the long term because there would be less competition for earth's resources, less crowding (and likely less disease) however, the process of killing 1/2 of the world population would not be a humanitarian effort. |

unfortunately, the only practical way to bring about change is voting, and as long as this country has a bible belt and backwoods there will be a rift between the coasts and the middle of the country. I do my part though, and my state almost always elects progressive senators and presidential candidates. |

I mean, just admit that you didnt join the Arm services because you were scared. There isnt any other excuse. You were afraid to serve your country. And you found out that you are better off serving your country talking BS in forums. |

i frequently disagree with krypton, however, suggesting that he is a for not joining the military is stupid. I didn't join the military either, not because i was scared, but because i had other options. the military is a job just like working at a fast food restaurant, an accounting firm, or a consulting firm. If someone is better suited to be an accountant why the hell would he join the military. To add to that, military service requires a significant commitment of your life. Many aren't willing to tie themselves down like that without knowing exactly what they are getting into. It's not a choice anyone should make lightly. If people have no excuse not to join the military then it would be obligatory. The government, however, has made it a choice to join the military recognizing that it is not for everyone. Not serving doesn't make someone less american. In fact, many jobs add much more to this country than being a soldier. For instance, lawyers who fight for constitutional rights do much more for this country than soldiers. Engineers working on technological advances to increase american productivity also do more for this country. I'm sure i could go on, but hopefully you get the point by now. |

Agreed! To be in the Military requires sacrifice, commitment, courage.
I disagree that being in the miliraty is like any other job because is not. You are putting your life on the line, you are serving one of the highest rank in serving your country and all the sacrifices that entitles it with. Like almost giving up a social life. Im sure Krypton thought about this things and found out he couldnt handle them. He is not ready to make such a sacrifice. So its better for him to go out in clubs glow sticking. |
