Seriously the media here sells audiences to advertisers.

I am going to write an editorial for this conflict to my local paper(s) to try to counter the powerful forces of mainly pro-Georgian media, I'll post sometime in the week when done writing the article. Please help me correct any grammar errors and comment on structure.

I don't get it. You do know that the government has no say in whatever the media wants to report here right?

The media has an uncanny ability to regurgitate anything from a government official. I call any article which has the words, "officials say" or "some say" more than 2 or 3 times is not an article. It's regurgitating what the OFFICIALS SAY! Is it any wonder why Iraq occupation coverage was so untrustworthy? The reporters hardly ever left the Green Zone. All they did was attend CENTCOM press briefings. That's the vast majority of the news coming from Iraq or at least was...may be different now but I highly doubt it...most reporters only see what they're allowed to see by the military command.

Bush presses Russia not to recognize Georgia regions

By Jeremy Pelofsky Mon Aug 25, 6:51 PM ET

CRAWFORD, Texas (Reuters) - The White House on Monday pressed Russia not to recognize Georgia's rebel areas and said Vice President Dick Cheney, an staunch critic of Moscow, would visit the region to show U.S. support for former Soviet states.

President George W. Bush said Georgia's borders must be respected after the Russian parliament called on the Kremlin to recognize two separatist regions -- South Ossetia and Abkhazia -- as independent states.

"I call on Russia's leadership to meet its commitments and not recognize these separatist regions," Bush said.

"Georgia's territorial integrity and borders must command the same respect as every other nation's, including Russia's," he said in a statement from his Texas ranch.

Hmmm I just dont see why any country should even bother listening to what the US has to say when it comes to invasion and occupation.Russia is laughing every time Bush opens his mouth about this situation.I would tell them to off since they have no rights to tell anyone what do to in this world after what they have done in the last 8 years.

We haven't had a genuinely good leader since President Roosevelt of the 1930-40's. It's really sad. You only get one in a life-time in my opinion. Clinton wasn't too bad though. Certainly blows the Bush admin straight out of the water in every category practically.

Dude what? You didn't think Regan was a good leader? You were a republican in your past political life and you can't give him props?

Hell no.

1. Increased government expenditures just like Bush
2. Increased government deficits just like Bush
3. Got involved in other country's problems/conflicts just like Bush...Nicaragua, Grenada, IRAN<---Most important one.

Reagan support Saddam Hussein with WMD components even when they were using them against Iranians in an unprovoked invasion of their country. Reagan was disastrous for our nation, and he set the precedent for constant foreign interventions and rampant government spending. Reagan Republican to me means an ideologue who could care less about small government, and responsible fiscal spending. I say Congress should no longer have the authority to borrow money on the government's credit. It's clear they can't handle such a responsibility.

Republicans I admire? Barry Goldwater. John Dean. Ron Paul. Abraham Lincoln.

except that kosovo declared independence, AND THEN we recognized their independence. In this case, russia is recognizing as an independent country an area which has not done so itself. This isn't even a subtle distinction. This is like the US declaring today that it recognizes siberia as an independent country. it sounds kind of stupid when it is said that way, right!
